1 first round pick in a year where you have 2, and the one is a generational player shouldn't make much difference. If you are getting a young top 6 winger with it then I am all for it.

I like the idea of picking Brandon Carlo. I don't love it, but I like it. If we could get Carlo at 20 and Kylington at 31, it would address a lot of defensive need for this team. Carlo is a defensive Dman while Kylington seems to be purely offensive.

So now that we know that the Islanders pick will be ours in either the 18 or 19 spot (depending on how the Red Wings/Lightning series shakes out)

You also surround your young centers with guys already in the league who actually have talent.

Calgary, Minn won their series. So they would move ahead of the Islanders pick correct? If the Wings lose, that would put us at 19 unless I'm missing something. (EDM, BUF, ARI, TOR, CAR, NJ, PHIL, CBJ, SJS, COL, FLO, DAL, LAK, BOS, PITT, WIN, OTT, NYI/DET) As long as it goes as I think it does, the worst they can be picking is 19

I agree. I think the Kane trade is a good example of that. He's a vet guy, but he's still young. It's possible to make moves like that. It doesn't hurt you depth wise, because you're not going to be looking to replace the guy in another 2 or 3 years. It affords you the opportunity to move some picks.

Not to mention we've had a plethora of picks over the past 3 years. Organizationally, you can't actually keep all of those guys. There's not enough room. A team can only have 50 guys under contract between the NHL, AHL, CHL, and Europe. It's time they take the quantity they've acquired and turn it into quality.

Over 300 wins for Todd McLellan in his time with the Sharks, can't blame him for his GM problems. Wilson is the Darcy Regire of the West. I'd take McLellan here if the chance was given.

Kind of curious to hear about other prospects now that the lottery is over with. I think I had read (red) somewhere that the tiers go 1-2, 3-5, 6-11, 12-19 as far as talent goes. I don't see GMTM trading this pick away unless it's for a first line winger, which we probably won't get.
