Here is one explanation of the draft order: http://en.wikipedia.org/w...n_order_and_draft_lottery
If this is correct, there is no advantage in terms of higher picks for losing in the first round versus losing in the 2nd, if the first round loser is a division winner and the 2nd round loser is not, or if they neither are but the first round loser has a better regular season record, then the first round loser picks later in spite of being eliminated first. Seems off, but that seems to be what the explanation is saying.
And if this is true, it seems to me that Flyers could pick as high as 21st, actually, in at least one scenario: For example, if the conference finalists are: Washington/Islanders vs. Detroit, and Calgary/Canucks versus Minnesota/Chicago. Then 4 of these 7 teams would take 30-26. 25 would be Rangers, 24 Montreal, 23 Anaheim, 22 St Louis, and then TB. - PT21
If you look at last year's regular season's standings, playoffs results, and draft order I think you are right. (Your math is off by one though)
If Tampa loses to Detroit and the Blues lose to the Wild then the Flyers would be guaranteed no worse than the 25th pick. If the Rangers, Canadiens, and Ducks all lost before the conference finals, then the Flyers could have the 22nd pick. The Flyers will know their position by the conference finals assuming Tampa loses before then. |

Yep 22-26 is the range. |

can anyone tell me where we would pick if Tampa loses this round and conference camps are MTL vs NYR and CHI vs ANA? Because that's how I see it shaking out with NYR and CHI makings through and CHI winning in 6 |

Hitch works best with and prefers a veteran lineup. If you are looking to build through the draft over the next few seasons, he's probably not the best choice. |

I think a lot has changed since his time in Philadelphia. Hitch isn't stupid, I'm sure he knows now that youth is the way to go. At the same time, Hitch has worked with and adjusted a lot of young players' games. I think Hitch should get a lot of credit for Simon Gagne and Justin Williams. To me Patrick Sharp is onlly one example of a major screw up. |

Agreed, Shattenkirk, Terasenko, and Schwartz all seem to have done pretty well under hitch.
Look at all the goaltenders the blues have had in his tenure, and the numbers they put up, crazy that his system can make Brian Elliot look good (of course it all blows up come playoff time), can you imagine the numbers Mase would put up? (after he just had this great season)
Of course it wouldn't hurt to have Pietrangelo in O&B |

Yeah dawg! She laughed pretty damn hard, and then during the exam she asked if she could keep it as a souvenir. She was pumped when I told her she could have it |

Two teams that need a roster shake up, the blues and penguins. Maybe they could be trade partners. |
