If that's true I would look elsewhere if I was Botteril
- eganator

I think we will see Morehouse take more control this summer. Push Mario back a bit. Too many people with a say right now.
Also, the organization says GMJR is returning but that's if he wants to. It sounds like Guerin and Botteril are going to rake full control soon

Never knew this but JR has an 8 yr old son LOL. At 66 not sure how much more he has left to keep up as a JR and a dad. That might affect some decisions.

Too much blew up in his face these last few months. I'm thinking he will get too much pressure from up top about moves and he will call it quits.

One of the better stories is Tampa. They sucked so they brought in Yzerman they basically said here's the keys call us when it's time to sign paychecks if you suck you're fired. That's the way it should be in my opinion

I have stayed away from here for the past few days, just didn't want to deal with any trolls. I was proud of the effort that they put in, just didn't have the horses and lost to a better team. I am on the fence about about keeping GMJR, he scares me...and that Lovejoy trade looks even worse now. I saw a stat that Rev was on the ice for 10 of the 11 goals...for the people who said that trade wont make or break the pens season...where are you now? That said, here is what I would like to see happen.

Resign Winnik, Blake, Downie

Tender Cole, BB

see what you can get for Kunitz, Scuds, Sutter, Spaling...if the best you can get is a 6th, you take it. If you can't get anything for Scuds or Kunitz, I say buy them out. There is zero reason for Scuds to be on this roster next year...none.

I would go to Malkin and ask him where his head is, does he want to stay here, if he doesnt', give me a list of teams he would like to go to..contact those teams, kick the tires. You get an offer you like, take it...you don't, you keep Malkin. It doesn't hurt to explore that option.

This team is going to have a decent amount of cap space next year, I don't want them to overpay for forwards...thats the last thing this team needs to do.

Um, do people realize Geno is not being moved. 87, 71, 58, and 29 are the franchise. The rest is interchangeable.
MJ will return as well.

Exactly! Please re-post this another 500X, and maybe it will sink in/ deter the preposterous #71 trade chatter. Clubs, in general, don't hand-out NTC's to non-core players.

I dont remember where I read it but within the last couple weeks I heard Malkin was contimplating going back to Russia.

Whether theres any truth to that I highly doubt it. But I did hear it rumored somewhere.

I think if anyone should be let go from the front office it should be Morehouse. He represents nothing more than a politician with no hockey experience before this gig. With a lot of teams letting former NHL players taking the business side, wouldnt be shocked to see his time end sooner or later. of course, he appears to be a good lapdog of burkle and lemieux so he is probably safe.

will expect some shifting in the front office. wouldnt be shocked to see Fitzgerald interview for the boston job or go elsewhere. wouldnt be shocked to see JB go elsewhere either. I see Guerin staying... probably has his eye on the penguins job in 1-2 years. Good to see Gary Roberts is taking a position with the team.

as for the team: glad Mike Johnston will be back. he has been good this season and much of the criticism is unjust towards him. Tocchet has been meh. I really have liked Gary Agnew. Really like what he did this season.

Lapierre should get a deal IMO. he showed up and performed when we needed him to. I dont believe this Malkin BS. I dont think this year would be the tipping point for him considering he just signed an extension. Having said that, they need to find linemates for him. you cant just keep shuffling whomever you want and expect it to work.

Your top 6 next year should include:
Crosby
Malkin
Hornqvist
Kapanen (only if he can handle it. if not, send him back to Europe or AHL)

Bottom 6:
Sundqvist
Lapierre
Rust
Farnharm

I expect Sutter to be traded for a pick or roster player. I expect Bennett to be traded for a similar younger player who is struggling. I thought a Kassian for Bennett trade made sense at the deadline but I think Kassian is playing better so that might not be realistic.

Defense:
Letang
Maatta
Pouliot
Cole
Harrington/Dumolin
Ehrhoff- this one will be questionable. I liked Ehrhoff and it's too bad it didnt work out. Having said that, I'd give him another look if it were a 1 year deal and for cheap. I have a feeling he tries to cash out though. Lovejoy sucks. They could trade him for a 7th round pick and I'd be fine with it.

So this leaves 4 holes at forward. Maybe Kunitz and Dupuis can use up 2 of those. That leaves two spots for UFA/Trade targets.

interested to see what GMJR does.

He brought in BriseBois to take control of a lot though. Brisebois has been a masterful addition to that front office.

Gary Roberts was technically hired by UPMC and not the Penguins, although he works in tandem with the Pens.

Well 71 admitted he was not injured and healthy when he was on the ice for the playoffs and Spaling had more pts than him.

Tying up so much cap in a few elites to me does't seem as much the problem as trading away too many draft picks and using the ones you keep poorly.

The staggering amount of uneducated "fans" on this forum who defended the lovejoy trade seem to have disappeared. Surprise? lol you know who you are, so please just stop watching hockey.

Anyone who stays a fan of this team until they clean (frank)ing house is on par with abused people who keep going back to their abuser, or leaf fans, not too sure whats a worse life decision. Ill have nothing to do with this team until that (frank)ing idiot GM is gone. The guy butchered carolina and people are surprised that he set our team back five years? Sid and geno will be out of their prime by the time rutherford is done ass (frank)ing our team and someone else takes over to start the 5 year journey of fixing this soft as baby poo team. If you have any respect for yourself don't spend a dime on anything to do with this team until they fix this disaster.

This is what I could never figure out about Shero...you have two generational talents in 87/71 and you do nothing but draft dmen. Would it have no made sense to get them wingers to develop with them? I mean, my god...how can you expect them to carry the load with 3rd line wingers all the time. They have had like 3 legit wingers since being here, Hossa, Neal and Horny. Shero set this franchise back about 5 years in forward development. It will take a while to right this wrong.
