Maybe not but edmonton gives a good offer and geno says no and all of a sudden the pens leverage goes way down - eganator
Edm might be like home to Malkin! wonder if he could find a good borscht in that town.... |

I think the Avs could be a good partner for both teams. 71 centering Mac and Iggy....They can resign ROR, Avs need D though really bad and goaltending. They are a young exciting team to watch that hasn't had a super star since Sakic/Forsberg. - sammy87
another potential team but their d sucks so bad its got to be their focus. |

It's what happened to St. Louis - eganator
talking to yourself now? pens wont move malkin for moving sakes. Hell, when they bring back stallsy they will have their three center model again! You could have sutter maybe? |

My point is some team gives an offer the team likes but geno for one reason or another says no here's who i wanna go to and the leverage goes way down for the pens. The Bolts went through a similar saga with St.louis |

Everyone seems to forget the Malkin has A full NO MOVEMENT clause. Any trade would have to be approved by Geno first. He ain't waiving his clause to go to any of the sucky teams...that i can guarantee you. I could see him approving a trade to la, st.louis, wash, van and maybe san jose. |

According to every reliable source I've read, ownership has no desire to move him. So this topic is pointless. |

Um, do people realize Geno is not being moved. 87, 71, 58, and 29 are the franchise. The rest is interchangeable.
MJ will return as well.

I disagree. Mario and Burkle would make the call on moving him and according to credible reports, they don't want to trade him.....and they shouldn't. |

Exactly, ownership would have to ok a move of that magnitude and they won't do that. |

As smart as Burkle and Mario are, how the hell to they trust their team to a politician?

Maybe but hiring a gm to do a job then not letting him do it for better or worse seems to be like bad ownership to me. |

You have a president and a hockey ops team too. You can't give one guy total control, that would be bad ownership. |

I'm not saying he's doing it but Mario could theoretically stock the hockey ops team full of yes men and handcuff botteril which I think he may do in the next year or 2 |

I think he has already done that. Mario has surrounded himself by people he trusts, but too many of his buddies. |

Poor model under Shero, injuries to the D this season. The constants on this team are the core players 87 71. Why trade what is a constant good? It doesn't make sense. |

Keeping 71 you're looking at and I would keep Lap:
39-87-72
X-71-Kap
Kuni-Sutter-X
Spaling-Lap-Wilson/Sund
Bergenheim might be a good pickup for the 3rd line, no idea where to fill the 2F spot. FA isn't really desirable. |
