Better trade for Malkin would be:
To Winnipeg - Malkin, and a 2016 third.
To Pittsburgh - Byfuglien, Ladd, 2015 St. Louis Blues 1st round pick, & 2016 conditional 2nd round pick.
Great trade for both teams! - TheUltimateJet
This might be the worst proposal yet. |

Why do you want to rid yourself of Byfuglien and Ladd so bad? I am going to guess that would be the very same reason why the Penguins are not going to take them.

It's not as bad as the idiot Bruins fan saying Lucic, smith, and a 2nd for Malkin |

So there was a picture of sundqvist on Twitter with his hockey bag and a caption saying good luck in the United States. Looks like he's coming to WBS, but no official word yet |

Bingo. Most on these boards say you can't trade Malkin. You can't trade Letang.
Ok great. So we have no prospects to speak of at forward other than kap who still likely won't be ready next year. We will have some cap space but this is a weak ufa pool.
So how to you propose getting better then?
Btw Jiri Tlusty is an incorrect answer. |

If the Blues shart the bed again today, I gotta think there is a deal with them somewhere. They need to be more dynamic. We need some youthful fw depth. |

For those that have been here a bit longer... I have to ask.
Did anyone notice MAF's body language at the ineptitude of the team in front of him?
How he reacted to the fact he played his ass off and pens couldn't score?
No?
I didn't either. Pure professional. |

Rossi thinks we should bring Martin back. How the hell does this guy get to write about sports for a living? My dog knows more about this team than he does.

If martin would sign cheap for 2yr deal then yes but if not try to trade for mid pick at deadline or let him walk.
I have no problems with
Letang Maatta
Poliout Cole
Chorney Dumo
Harrington
And yes that is with trading Lovejoy.. Maybe we can get a late 1st seeing how we gave up a late 1st d prospect for him.. |

It would be nice if the FO would go with this so more money could be allocated to the forward upgrades. But I don't think they will.

Hope there's no BS in the result & these guys just get to go at best they can.
Probably be some BS call after a head butt or something so they get a rematch - but I hope not.
I'm going with Jr but it's going to be good! |

i love the posts that are pretty much the same team, but hoping Dupes is the top 6 answer and just getting rid of Scuds solves all the problems. |

Throwing money at the problem isn't an answer.
Paying Tlusty and Frolik $5+ doesn't solve any issues. Just overpaid plugs. I dont see any answers via free agency for this club. |

It's funny how everyone is blaming the injuries then & how we could have had a better result if Tanger + was playing? That would mean playing the same forward group wouldn't it?
So if we could have but didn't why wouldn't it work next year?
I've said in my inexperienced opinion that we need to fix the D - they don't score, aren't dangerous enough to be a threat & that allows the opponents to focus on the F.
Fix the D 1st.
Rags with all their firepower couldn't score either (just enough to bounce us but you know what I mean), & their D played big in getting points. |

I started to read it, then just stopped...that guy is a joke. There is no way they dump Lovejoy, that would be an epic PR problem and pretty much admitting failure. I kind of hope the Ducks win the cup, just so SD can rub it in the faces of the media guys here who try to smear him. Then again, I like to hold grudges.
I honestly believe, you have to kick the tires on a Malkin trade. I think St Louis would be a perfect fit for him to be honest. I think they could probably send the most back also. Perhaps Dallas, but not sure why he would waive to go there. Its going to be a really odd off season and not watching Pens play hockey deep into May is going to be very strange. Thank the maker that the Pirates are good again, or this summer would really blow. |

They don't have to go for the highest end forwards available. Money can most definitely put depth in the forward lineup. And cap room is possibly one strength the Penguins have.

The defense is going to have a new look next year, so we will see where that goes. Letang/Maatta, DP/Cole, Doums/Lovejoy with Harrington also pushing for time. Thats a solid group right there, with potential to be great. The best part about that, is its cheap. Probably what? 13 mil tied up in that group. That leaves a lot of money to be spent to help the forwards. I don't believe though, that they can be fixed via FA. Just have to hope that Kap and Sun can make this team out of camp. I have to believe they will be given every chance to do so. They have to stop trading 1st round picks...and it needs to start this year. No more, its going to take 5 years to dig out of this hole Shero put them in.
