It is really dumb to have 2 of 3 playoff games start at the same time.

Off topic, but who are you pulling for as the next coach for the Sabres? Bylsma, Mclellan? Honestly, I wouldn't mind either especially Bylsma. He's done great things especially when Crosby and Malkin were both injured. Having a cup adds to his credibility, too. Let's be real about Babcock, I doubt he comes to buffalo even if he decides to leave Detroit.

I'd be interested to see if the Sabres can duplicate the Lightning's success with Jon Cooper - a guy whose background in the AHL gives him more direct experience mentoring a developing young players, but whose technical coaching capabilities permit him to lead the more veteran guys. I think Grand Rapids Jeff Blashill is that kind of guy.

Let's try to leave the loser mentality at the door. There's no reason he wouldn't come here.

I agree. There's probably a few AHL guys worth a look in the least. Ron Rolston! Kidding. For every Jon Cooper, who's absolutely flooded with talent in Tampa right now, you have guys like Scott Arniel, Dallas Eakins and Cory Clouston. Hot shots in the A, come up and have little to moderate success. It's what the Bills have done for years and years. Picked up no namers, unprovens and has beens. Look how that's gone. Yeah, every so often you hit on a guy with no track record at the major league ranks, but probability says it's unlikely.

Not totally sure how it works, if an NHL team wants to hire an AHL coach, is it simply that team granting permission to let the coach interview or does that coach have to be a free agent like in the NHL? I would think if Murray thinks that highly is Blashill, and he's done some great things down there, he would interview him.

No loser mentality here, friend. I'm sure the plan is to win from here on out. I just don't see Babcock wanting to come to buffalo if we're not a cup contender right now, let alone for sure thing playoff team. This team has a lot of hard working guys that are solid in all 3 zones of the ice, but we still need pieces to make the next step, especially goal scorers.

I don't think Eichel is a big enough factor to bring Babcock here.

For every failed AHL hire for NHL head coach there is a failed hire of an established NHL name: Torts in Couver; Quinn in Edmonton; Melrose in Tampa

Blashill would be a good hire for sure. I just think with Pegula, they'd want a "proven" type of coach. But I'd be on board with Blashill. Whoever our coach is would be kinda like this year's draft. "Whatever happens and whoever we get, we're getting someone good."

Also happy the pens are out again. Can't wait to hear what toxic meltdown that is the Penguins locker room this year. I've said it for a while now, but I think Crosby is destroying that team ever since he won a cup.

What ?????? how is Crosby destroying the team ? he took a massive pay cut the only real winger he's ever had is probably Hossa I mean really they should be getting him players that are good not plugin players how ridiculous is that

and the Penguins are pretty good with all the injuries they had
they probably would have won if they had their defense healthy

Yes, Crosby destroying the team. There's been several times when we heard there's all sorts of drama going on in the Penguin's locker room. I would also argue there's a link between that locker room and why Crosby still has yet to have any great wingers join "the best hockey player currently in the NHL". Maybe it's just me, but I figured something had to be up when Iginla didn't reunite with his Olympic linemate in Crosby. Since after that all the Penguins managed to get is Perron and Hornquist? PLEASE. Call me crazy, but if your franchise has "the best hockey player currently in the NHL" and have yet to attract any sort of legitimate off-wing talent to play with him, then I don't think it's too far fetched to think something is up with Crosby's Leadership, Attitude, Ego, and what have you. This guy practically had Bylsma ran out of the organization because Crosby didn't agree with some coaching decisions.

When any player starts to have more say than a head coach, that's a big problem. That's where players lose focus on their coaches and get caught up with what Crosby has to say. I know Crosby is one of the best hockey talent in the league, no one would argue that. But I think he causes more headaches than anything.

Funniest thing i have read in a long time. Maybe Crosby hasn't had a winger in a long time because of cap situations... The last guy they tried getting that was a big name was Parise. And Parise picked the wild because he is from there.

Blaming Crosby for anything is laughable. This is when people should have there opinion card revoked

Initially, I would have thought so too, but I guess they actually make more money (rather, recoup more of a loss) this way. They make money off advertisers based on viewership during certain windows. For example, advertisers pay more for viewership during the "primetime" (i.e. 8pm though 11pm) window than the next one, late night. So in other words, NBC/Comcast is getting paid for each game during that primetime slot on any one of their networks. In other words, as long as somebody is watching one of their networks, be it NBC, NBCSN, USA, or CNBC, they're making money. Getting as much viewership on any one of those networks during that primetime slot is why they do it this way.

Blas hill is interesting...but I think he moves into Detroit HC position when Babcock leaves for Edmonton or Toronto.
I don't see Babcock coming to Sabres, I won love to see him here, I think k it is a low probability.

I want nothing g to do with Bylsma (sp?), Nolan could have won a cup with that team that year. I think he is way overrated, but that is me.

Paul McClean (formerly of Ottawa) would be interesting.
