Hunwick and Yandle have been atrocious for you guys all series! You can argue that they're better than the scrubs we've been putting out, but that's like being the tallest midget. Congrats, your bottom pairing is better than our bottom pairing that is full of AHLers. Is this something you want to brag about? Hunwick would have no place in our healthy lineup, just like he has no place in yours when Klein can go.
As for the bit about trades and signings: yeah. What's your point? That's a whole other issue entirely, and one which I believe everyone on the board will agree with you. The Penguins have been atrocious at drafting and have given out stupid contracts. This is just fact. I'm just happy they avoided giving out stupid contracts to Orpik and Niskanen.
Jesus Christ, he might go out of his way to poke the bear at us sometimes, but at least Ranger Danger can talk hockey when he feels like it when he comes over here... - Victoro311
Bottom line.....NYR has one of if not the best defensive corp. in the NHL..Everyone knocks Yandle, but his play/pass to Hags is why he so dangerous. Hunwick has been riding pine for most of season, and hasn't made many errors. BOYLE.....he f$$#%#$ blows..haha

I agree for the most part, but Yandle is more than PP man. Just look at that play/pass to Hags.(please don't start talking penalty..lol)
Yandlel 80games 52 pts.
Letang 70 games 54pts.
Most of Yandles pts came from worst team in league. He's got faults, but I wouldn't say overrated. Especially, when he get only 5mil. (only 2.5mill against NYR) - rrentz
Meh. I see what you're saying. I guess it just comes down to how much you're willing to pay for a purely offensive D man. If I'm gonna pay a guy 2/3 d man money, it's ok if he's better on one end of the ice than the other, but I want him to be decent on his weaker end. Yandle is a complete defensive liability. I don't want to pay a PP QB 5 mil and run the risk of him getting exposed whenever he's on the ice at even strength. |

Yandle and Hunwick are atrocious??? OK..if you say so. HMMMM .?? - rrentz
Have been this series. And Yandle is atrocious on his own end. He's a complete defensive liability. I don't think many would argue against these claims. |

How's Yandle getting exposed. I get a -36 on ARI., but Im honestly not seeing him get beat. Penalty or not on Crosby..he made a great play/pass. I've watched all the games and he's not standing out as a turnstyle by any means. He's definitely a risk/reward kind of player, but I think most people hate the fact that NYR got him in a trade and its the same ol same ol NYR is buying players. Meh...whatever.

He makes me nervous at times but he is a serviceable DMan w/ a F***ing big offensive upside. |

Dan Boyle is horrible. Hunwick has been pretty good imo and far superior to Boyle. Yandle is high risk high reward but he's impressed me a lot in terms of defense. That uncalled interference on Crosby and then that outlet pass to Hagelin were nice for example.
But I think McDonagh, Girardi, and Staal have been lights out. Hoping Klein comes back in and then it's Boyle that sits over Hunwick. |

I think Yandle's defensive liability reputation is a little exaggerated. I do remember 2 games where he was absolutely brutal but his skating makes him pretty effective at defending. |

THank you!! Boyle should have stayed in Europe after his touring w/ "Faith No More"..
this off season. Yandle just has that reputation. He's no shutdown Dman, but he is more than capable. His defensive liability is definitely exaggerated. Oh well, lets move on. |

Interesting piece on the Pens and their future. - sammy87
I like Colligan fine, but he's been proven to be wrong as often as he is right. Which makes him better than most covering the Pens, but certainly not good either.

Plus you have him at only $2.65 mil cap hit. Compare that to Scuderi's cap hit. |

Played w/ him at NY Applecore, b4 college. He actually wore my hand-me-downs when we were little. His dad was a cop w/ my dad. pretty funny. Two cups for a LI boy..not too shabby |

I would take Yandle over Martin any day, add in the fact he only makes half of what Martin makes and that makes it a no brainer. Dan Boyle would be the only Ranger Dman I would pass on. |

I gotta another funny story. Im a teacher and a co-teacher met him at a party after BC won National championship. My buddy said to him, "hey, I saw you win the National championship." Scuderi's response was "yeah, a lot of people saw that game!" . Doesn't really paint a nice picture Scuuds! He very cocky! |

i dont think most people have given appreciation to the fact that since staal's departure, crosby has been forced to log harder minutes and bear greater defensive responsibility.
over time, that is going to detract from offensive output. - stayinthefnnet
That's the biggest thing. If J.Staal isn't there, you have to put either Crosby or Malkin out against stiffer competition. They can't feast on favourable match-ups anymore like they did because you no longer have a third guy who can dominate possession against elite talent and not feel a ton of pressure to score.
Jordan Staal is the best in the league at what he does. I don't know that $6 million is the right number for him, but it's certainly no less than $5 mill. |

True. I forgot the Yotes retained half his contract. I retract my previous position and say that's definitely fair. His next contract will probably be a 7 mil + cap hit though. I don't want that. |

This doesn't surprise me for some reason. I think Scuderi is the next Tyler Kennedy for me. I'm so on the verge right now that as soon as he stops being a Penguin I'm probably going to flat out hate him. |
