I noticed this play last night, and wanted to find it so I did this afternoon.
NHL officiating is a joke...
As Malkin chips the puck in from center, watch Sutter flying down the boards trying to get the loose puck. He's skating hard, so likely would have gotten there first.
Hagelin just blatantly rubs him out into the boards.
Interference in every sense of the rule... Not going to be called in the NHL today, and definitely because the Pens are already on the PP. The refs just won't put a team down two men.
It's a joke. |

Not the worst idea I have ever heard.
The warriors (I'm an NBA fan too) did something like this in 2011 playing lots of 1st and 2nd year guys and tanking pretty hard. Those guys got good playing lots of minutes. Now they are doing pretty damn well. - schoobs2731
I'm not even suggesting they tank. They can still be competitive with the core and sneak into the playoffs. Problem is, they had to sneak into the playoffs this year.
I wish the plan for this team this season involved next season's success for once. |

Yeah, they stopped calling this kind of impeding of progress months ago. That's called "taking the body" now
But did you see Comeau's hook on Stepan that got called? Am I wrong or they NEVER called that kind of crap in previous years. |

Geno was also hooked in the offensive zone prior to that penalty. I posted that last night and bam hooking on us. |

haha fair enough.
everything just gets so personal here so quickly. its brutal.
realistically, our hockey team is done yet again. its frustrating. everyone is still entitled to their opinion. if it bothers people so much, theyre under no obligation to read it, let alone reply to it.
i just come here to kill time and shoot the poop, and like hearing people's perspectives. but it always becomes a pissing contest in short order. ugh. - stayinthefnnet
I don't want to have a pissing contest. I just cant think of any conceivable trade for Geno that makes sense for us, and for the other team involved. I think if the right deal comes along, you can trade anyone. Id just like to see a trade proposal that makes sense rather than for people to keep saying WE JUST HAVE TO DO IT.
And yeah, it is frustrating that our season is over. But with the holes in our blueline, I didn't have many expectations going into this post season. Hell, for a while there, I didn't even think we would make the post season.
I just want out front office to get their heads out of their asses. Hang on to draft picks, scout and develop talent, and stop chasing trade deadline UFA rentals. |

I understand what you are saying but there are no guarantees that the following season the team could compete anymore than they could in this season. And if 87 & 71 are on the team and not suffering season ending injuries, the ownership wants to compete.

Those hooks have been getting called consistently for years in the regular season. Seemed like a soft call for the playoffs though. |

With the datsyuk stuff detroit is way better at building around him especially through the farm. That's not a slight at the pens, detroits better than everyone in sports at that |

That is the part that kills. I don't mind the trades like Bortuzzo (pending RFA) for Cole (pending RFA) or Goc (pending UFA) for Lapierre (pending UFA). Swaping assets in that way gives you something different, but still of equal value makes perfect sense. You could add the Neal for Hornquvist + Spaling to that list as well as the Perron trade.
What kills still is the Despres (23yrs old, $900K for 1 more season & then still a RFA) for Lovejoy (31yrs old, $1.1M for 1 more season & then a UFA). The Winnik for a 2nd + 4th, Stempniak for a 3rd, Iginlia for a 1st, Murray for two 2nds, and B. Morrow & 3rd for a 1st & J. Morrow. Just this mindset of throwing away picks & younger players year after year after year... |

Definitely not fair, Don't even know who the first TB person is.. and they picked Morrow's wife?? Lame. There were much better TB's to choose from... But Abdelkader deserves a high five for that one. |

Holland and maybe Yzerman are the only GMs that seem to have a consistently better than random success rate in drafting/developing picks. Shero was actually pretty good with NA puck moving dmen but worthless at anything else. Rutherford has a mediocre at best history with that.

Well it was written by Detroit, so that's expected. I'm willing to bet TBay has some beauties over there. But Abdelkader... How the F? Dude is ugly as hell.

To San Jose: Malkin, Bennett, Domoulin
To Pittsburgh: Couture, Wringles, Glodobin, Dillion, 1st - Willaged
Couture- is he Malkin? No. But he is still an above average 2C, is 3 years younger and 3.5 less against the cap.
Wringles- legit cost effective bottom 6 guy. SJ may like Bennett as he's a Cali guy and still has potential.. I don't believe Bennett is going to develop into the top 6 guy we all wish he would be, so why not just get a piece of the bottom 6 depth we need instead of miscasting BB there.
Glodobin- SJ'a first round pick last year. Young forward, high ceiling, ELC. Excatly what we need and takes some pressure off of Kap having two legit F prospects, instead of all of our eggs in Kap's basket.
1st- see Glodobin- also as of next year all our D prospects should be in the NHL- so yes, we'll have a young group, but the cupboards will be bare- so would be nice to have a 1st and a 2nd in this draft. Best player available first round, 2nd round you target the opposite of what you took in the first (if a forward take a D, and vice versa)
Dillion- solid young Dman. Our young D looks good next year, but it is soft. Dillion toughens it up a bit without going full Hal Gill or Doug Murray. LOL. |

I actually like this deal (depending on contract status of the SJ guys), we could probably get another prospect or higher pick out of this too as SJ will want to make at least a few Cup runs with Jumbo Joe etc |

You're right it is a joke, Moore got a penalty that was another Pens embellishment, find the gif of that, it was priceless to see that bum laying in the crease as the puck went in, should have put it off his ugly mug
