I find the biggest bashers are actually fans of other teams other than the predators. It's Kings and Flyers fans being salty. Flyer fan was bashing our fans. Is that a joke? And King fan basically saying refs gave us two gift powerplays. Again, another joke.

One of the Predators PP in OT was when Forsberg got the delay of game penalty. It sucks, but that's legit. No mention of the CLEAR tripping that were NOT called on plays against Shaw and Versteeg and even on Desi's near score he was taken down. Hawks won anyway....that's how champions roll I guess.

Predators fans didn't seem to be ingrates.

- kwolf68

I saw that a few days ago too. Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black. A Flyers fan - or any Philly team for that matter - calling out another city's fans for inappropriate behaviour. Not worthy of a response, as is the 'Hawks opponent this round's 'blogger'.

I did see BCallaway write a long, well worded and sincere message to their 'blogger'. Wonder if said 'blogger' read it or provided any level-headed response. Ahhh, who am I kidding, that 'blogger' has a serious inferiority complex.

It all depends on how a player like Danualt fits in ...He could be better next yr than Richards was this year. The savings comes from Oduya and Rozsy being replaced for 1/2 the cap hit....and most likely Sharp and Bickell dumped.
- Al

Considering Kruger and Saad are RFAs and the increases to Kane and Toews, I have to pause when you say replacing Oduya and Rozsy for half the cap hits (what's that? 2.75 million). And then "most likely" Sharp and Bickell being dumped as being even CLOSE to addressing the cap situation.

With about 9 million being added to the cap from 19 and 88, you figure Saad/Kruger will get an extra 3 million added (combined, and that's being woefully conservative) that's 12 million of extra cap hits the Hawks will need to shed off. Sharp and Bickell alone don't even really come close to matching that 12 million. So it's MORE than "most likely" those two are gone (unless there is another shocker we don't know about), it's a virtual guarantee.

And if the Hawks decided to move Crawford when his value is at highest then that would be a great move, especially considering it would (w/ Bickell and Sharp moving) essentially erase our entire cap problems. I'd rather have a good goalie than one with experience. But if we need an older guy who has lots of games under his NHL belt you can pick up one of those for pretty cheap, even if he can't stop pucks.

Might want to take a few minutes to read and watch this...

Really, really makes me think how lucky many of us who played various games, got our cages rattled but came out of it much better than Steve. Glad Carcillo did this.

And why not Seabrook on the PP!

- PuckMaster

Absolutely! I conjure up 1980's memories of #18 on the half boards feeding a one-timer pass to #24 drifting to the deep slot from the left-D position and just firing a Howitzer. Now think of #88 doing the same for #7, but from the opposite side.

If that's the case... I'm with ya Al, keep Crawford, they're going to need him!

Also, love Danault! Fans will love this guy for his energy, high hockey IQ, but don't think his offensive game will translate into anything more than a bottom 6 guy in the NHL.

Frankly...I'll be surprised if CC is traded too, but...

...just curious...so trade a 6M guy and sign Niemi for what?....5M?

1M is 1M, but that ain't much savings if you're worried about the cap.

- ArlingtonRob

IF - and it's a BIG if - CC is traded, I would imagine there will be 2 solid players in return with a little cap relief to boot. But so many things have to happen, the first being the ACTUAL '15-'16 cap number.

I'd say. Saad gets 3M on his own I would think. There's talk that Tarasenko will be looking for 6-7M, I think 3-4M for Saad who's a better 2-way player would be reasonable.

I had my own excel chart using Capgeek numbers... so here's a scenario. Not pretty:

LW C RW
Versteeg $2,200,000 Toews $10,500,000 Kane $10,500,000
Saad $4,000,000 Teravainen $894,167 Hossa $5,275,000
Danault $863,333 Shaw $2,000,000 McNeill $863,333
Ross $636,667 Kruger $2,000,000 Nordstrom $750,000
VET FWD $550,000

D D
Seabrook $5,800,000 Keith $5,538,462
Hammer $4,100,000 TVR $925,000
Johns $800,000 VET D-MAN $2,000,000
Cumiskey $700,000

G
Crawford $6,000,000
Darling $585,000

That wouldn't be bad: cap hit of about $67.5, I think - losing Sharp, Bickell, Vermette, richards, Desjardins (might want to resign him), Oduya, Roszival, Timmonen.

...but he found quite the goaltender in #33. Have to give Stan credit where it is earned if you're going to look in the rear view mirror.
- Hawkshead

You're missing the point. While Darling has been great, a comparison would be Turco as long as we're looking in that mirror...sure there are hits and misses.

Personally I like both trades for Desjardins and Vermette (who seems to be really coming around and found his game).

But it still doesn't excuse the fact that Bowman completely whiffed on getting relief for his top 4 with a quality lower end dman that will eat minutes especially here in the playoffs when he's had a year to do something about it.

I'd love to have Desjardins back as a 12th/13th forward next season. He shouldn't be that expensive to re-sign.

Caution, Unrelated!

What's your goal? My goal? is to get the right person at the Blackhawks to realize that all of these 8:30 starts are punishing their own fan base, particularly the kids, and hope that that person makes a stink about it with the NHL. Seriously. You want the next generation of fans to be able to stay up to watch games like this. This is really pissing me off.

Why is it out of the question for some to trade CC? I like Crow but couldn't that $6M bring in a really good puck moving dman that will improve the defense and take pressure off the goaltender. Should also be room left to bring in a decent center.

One thing you forget. The NHL doesn't know there are teams outside of the eastern time zone. Everything revolves around the NY/Philly/DC triangle. It is of course the center of the universe. Well there and MON

That's reasonable look at it. Some other thoughts:

If it were me, I would delete TVR from the list because he has to make the team all over again and he is very risky proposition to stay healthy. I would also
delete Versteeg, Bowman should want to dump him wherever he can.

Love the guy but Shaw may be another guy who is on thin ice based on salary alone.

Has to be a place for one of Kyle Baun or Hartman.

Doubtful there is a $2M Dman signed as a free agent in the offseason, not much any good on the market and they will do whatever they can from within first.

Why would Cumiskey resign if he thinks he can make another NHL roster?

Bickell/Sharp may be cap dump trades. Crow will not be. That list of teams could easily add 2-3 names based on playoff results. Example: Why would the Caps or Isles stay married to Holtby or Halak if they crap the bed.

Also, I could see Crow back in to start the next round even if Darling wins this round IMO. Crow is a proven quantity (he was the real MVP of the 13 POs) and Q knows it.

- tredbrta

You might be wrong about that.

The price, I'm guessing, would be a mid-to-late first/early second round pick, an NHL-likely prospect, and a lower line/lower pairing player.

Likely suitors: Buffalo, Edmonton, possibly 1-2 others

Stan will have a plan for the salary cap. I have mentioned before an idea that would save money, and I think there would be no way to stop the move. Name Hossa player/coach. His salary falls under the coaches salary, therefore it does not count against the cap. The Union has no gripe because he is still getting paid his contracted salary.
