Nice pull. Eichel is going to generate a lot of excitement and probably a lot of production in a blue and gold jersey for a long, long time. I'm delighted the Sabres have a shot at developing this kid, and he's going to love Buffalo.

I for one am excited we have a superstar now and i don have to say during games man I wish we had that player and be jealous all game

Why is Garth mentioning Ken Hitchcock and the Sabres in the same sentance, Hitchcock is a horrible coach and we don't need that fat pig.

I dont even understand why Barf is associated with the sabres any more, send HIM to Edmonton.

For those of you who are lazy like me, this is the take away:

Author then says likely production is probably more equal than appears because: (i) Eichel didn't get his "key" linemate (Rodrigues) until more than half the season was gone, whereas McDavid had his the whole time (Dylan Strome); and (ii) it's just plain harder to score in Hockey East than in the OHL.

Agree, all those guys would be fine by me. Lots of teams are winning with "retreads".

Also, Murray had a few quotes just after trade deadline that alluded that he has trades in place already for draft day.....thought one of the interviews suggested perhaps it was to address goaltending?

I would add Malcomb Subban (of course that changes with new GM)
One of either Gibson or Anderson in ANA
and perhaps the suggestion of Martin Jones (I've seen other teams boards where they expressed interest - not sure if he would even be available?)

Bovada's odds suggest that Todd McLellan is the most likely candidate to take over as the Flyers' next head coach.

Obviously that shouldn't be taken as an indication that McLellan will become Philadelphia's bench boss, but it makes for a fun side note. Dan Bylsma and Mike Babcock are the second and third most likely candidates respectively based on the odds. Benoit Groulx, Kevin Dineen, Peter DeBoer, and Guy Boucher are tied for fourth place.

McLellan can't be that dumb, he will be out of a job in Philly within a year and 2 weeks.

Could be the same if he came to Buffalo... How many years did Nolan and the nerd last?

McClellan definitely has a terse, no nonsense approach at the podium when he's dealing with the media. Kinda reminds me of Murray. They could work well together. We could also have a tandem that pretty much finally publiclly embarasses the local media at press conferences for asking stupid questions over and over and over...

What would happen if they took Hannafin?
- nfph

The fans would burn Rexall to the ground (Thinking about this - it might be an option, then ownership can get that new arena they have been threatening the public about.)

Hmmmm, is it really that far-fetched?

Yes.

McDavid in Canada means lots of publicity and $$$$ despite being the northern outpost.....they will pick him.

Not true, technically Edmonton still can, or a trade from someone else

Considering the Bills this offseason went from Marrone to Rex Ryan subsequently reinvigorating the fan base resulting in a massive increase in season tickets sold, you would think a big splash is coming for the Sabres as well. I'd say our fanbase is due for a massive injection of hot steamy head coach excitement.

Man. See our schedule? We may start 0-3 with two home losses.

btw, it's official...

The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has signed free agent forward Evan Rodrigues to a two-year, entry-level contract.

“Evan is a very talented young player who has displayed exceptional growth during his four years at BU,” said Buffalo Sabres General Manager Tim Murray. “We look forward to adding another talented piece to our group.”

What if Murray trades the pick????

Dallas calls with Seguin++++????, since they benched him the last game. (Hyothetical speculation of course)

If they offer Seguin, Nichuskhin, Oleksiak and their first, I will listen. Otherwise. piss off.
