I'd strongly consider a buy out on him. It's a bad situation. They need to lose the guy, and hope expansion fees negates the cap penalties
- Jsaquella

Aren't expansion fees not going to be included in HRR?

As do I, but as it stands they have dead space now, and it's in a uniform
- Jsaquella

I agree they can't bring him back. I just really want them to find another way. I think Hexy feels the same way. Thats why he said no to a buyout pretty vehemently.

In terms of theories and being a progressive mind, Eakins is intriguing. He had Godawful defense and goaltending during his two seasons as a NHL head coach.

you think he'll get a head coaching gig again or do you think teams are just turned off by him at this point?

30-70 he'll get another shot. He's young enough where it could happen, but I think he has to wait awhile

When the flyers hire McLellan

It sounds like the oilers are going to try really hard to get Mclellan.

I don't believe that expansion fees are part of HRR in determining the Cap. I think that's all owner money that the players don't get any of.

The Oilers can certainly make a big push in trying to recruit him, but he was asked about the opportunity of coaching the Oilers, more specifically McDavid, and this was his answer.....

"I would like to coach a great group of hockey players next year,” he said. “Connor McDavid is, obviously, everybody’s talking about him and his ability to come in and have an impact. I’m assuming that the Oilers will pick him number one.

“But one thing that I’ve learned: you can have the best player and still not have the best team. It’s about team. It’s about a group. It’s about the whole organization and the culture of the organization.

“Connor’s going to be a very exciting player to watch — again, I’m assuming in Edmonton — and he’ll have an impact on the league for years and years to come. But the bigger story is about the group as a whole".....

Obviously, several typos occurred in that sentence.

That's just someone speculating. I'd be surprised if they go the Assistant Coach route.

How about mark Morris? Current Florida assistant. Ex Manchester Monarchs coach for 8 years. Helped groom and develop the Kings farm. Hexy connection. Many think he could be ready. Paid his dues for awhile now like a Bruce Boudreau

No chance. First bad call by the refs and all the sticks are on the ice.

I figure he'd be so mad he'd toss Steve Coates on the ice
