I'm sure SJ's playoff failures were a collective effort, just like the Flyers failures with Berube this year. But that doesn't mean a coach can't learn from his previous failures. And like Bill's blog said yesterday, there's a whole lot of luck involved in winning a Cup too.

So I think a McLellan or Julien who've gotten their teams to the playoffs every year except this past one are both good choices. I like the idea of a system like McLellan's with an emphasis on attack because I find it more entertaining to watch all season long.

They scouted Brandon a lot this season apparently, and the junior hockey schedule affords a lot more games (i.e., viewing opportunities for scouts plus developmental time for players) than the NCAA slate.
