what happened today with WAS-NYI someone got hit pretty hard??
- Giroux_Is_God

Yeah, poor Visnovsky got CRUSHED by Tom Wilson... he had his head down and Wilson ran right over him. Wilson got a 2min for charging, but I don't think it warranted it.

No elbow, No jump, no direct headshot (head was hit, but not the sole point of contact), and coasting.... essentially a big man took advantage of a smaller man in a vulnerable position.

After 5 periods of play, Kimmo Timonen has only played around 12:18 in ice time. I'll admit that I haven't watched Timonen closely since his trade but whenever I have decided to check in on him, he has looked OLD every single time.

Except it was blindside and the puck was nowhere near him? I wish I had more than 2 seconds worth of video.

I'll check youtube

EDIT: Terrible hit. Clean delivery, but absolutely unwarranted. Tom Wilson annoys the poop out of me.

Isn't this the little female dog that got dirty against Brayden a while back? Basically shot himself like a cannon against him.

And the series is over, nice try by Nashville, can't help but think what would've been with Weber.

Hmmm... He'd just played the puck (lost it into the corner I think).... and I'm not sure how you call that blindside b/c he went right through the front of him.

I definitely wouldn't want to see a flyer take that hit (well... maybe vinny) but I don't see it as illegal. Vicious?... heck yes, but not illegal.

And yes, Tom Wilson is one of 'those guys'... you like him on your team, but hate him if he isn't.

I'd like to see the preamble to the hit. I can't judge this hit until I see what led up to it. Otherwise, from this vine, it looks like a reputation call.

I think there is a predatory aspect to charging, such that if you sort of "wind up" on your way to delivering a hit and/or if you appear to be hunting someone with their head down, they'll call it. Rinaldo is guilty of this too.

Ok, went and found it on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcZy81gj3mI

Those couple of quick strides Wilson took before he levelled Visnovsky isn't good. That's an element of charging. But largely, I'd say this is RBR and a bit of reputation.

Niskanen has looked good for the Caps. Very steady in his own end and bringing a nice physical game.
The Caps got him for 5.7M. We got AMac for 5M

In response to overwhelmingly popular demand, the Flyers name George B. McClellan to be their next head coach, saying "he's an excellent organizer."

I am a little disappointed the Flyers haven't grabbed any of the college FA that have signed. Could change if they get Oksanen or maybe they grab Hyman but I was hoping they would be able to grab one or two of the more high profile ones.

Aside from Read, they haven't had much success with college FA's. Guys like Kyle Flanagan and Mike Testwuide were supposed to be big-time players who flopped. Not to say it's an avenue they should give up on, but I'd prefer looking overseas for guys like Raffl/PEB over NCAA FA's.

Yeah.

I was hoping they would get Oksanen from BU just because of his size on the wings and possible scoring. I know they got Bordreau. I was just looking for cheap way to bring some low risk talent to the Phantoms where you might find a diamond in the rough.

I haven't watched him, but I see he's listed as a winger/defenseman. That's definitely interesting.

I liked watching Oksnanen. Big kid, was a defenseman before they moved him to wing. During the Frozen Four he really stood out as a player who could make plays and use his size in puck possession. Good on ice vision. 6'3" 210.

I honestly didn't mind the Tom Wilson hit on Visnovsky last night -- both feet were on the ground, he wasn't still striding

Once upon a time, guys knew not to playing around the net with the puck, thinking that nobody was gonna be there

Visnovsky needs to keep his head up and realize that this is the playoffs and that you're playing a team who was down 2-1 in the series -- yeah, you're getting hit on the forecheck

He's looked absolutely brutal. poor hawks trading a 2nd rounder for him. He look nothing like the K.t. of seasons past. He gets scorched on d every time, can't connect on his passes, kinda sad honestly

Pretty sure it's torn or sprained. I think it happened when he first got there.
