I'll say it again, I would have moved Martin at deadline for a forward. I think we are right where we'd be with or with out him and now we will lose him and get nothing in return. I like Cole for Bortz, I absolutely hate Lovejoy for Depres. I hate that we waited to bring Dumoulin up to play til the playoffs and I know there was cap issues at the end of season but.. He has looked very solid albeit a mistake here and there he is definitely ready for NHL.

Right now Chorney is worlds better than Dumo. Paul~Mart looks pretty rough right now, but he would have been very valuable if Tanger didn't get decapitated.

Yeah its pretty bad when that stock pile of D prospects turns out to be DP the only NHL regular out of them all. Dumo has shown nothing and Harrington is behind Chorney (nobody on this board has ever mentioned him). Thanks again Shero!

Martin looks worn down which is expected.

C’mon RW…. Are you objectively stating zone exists/ entries were the reason the Pens lost G3, or are you taking the club’s official position on the loss by reverberating the storyline they posted last night?

http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=764330&navid=DL|PIT|home

Interesting that you don’t make a single mention of sleepwalking for 54mins and/or achieving 6 SOG’s (through 2 periods) during a pivotal HOME playoff game. The first SOG at the 15min mark of P1 AND from center-ice?! Really?! Hush-hush…. No mention of POSSESSION (I’m a stats supporter) – SAF% P1, 80% NYR – P2 70% NYR – P3 36% NYR. Really?! Not a single mention of the lackluster attempt at offense (i.e. getting pucks to the net). We must have watched different games then. Because what I saw was a team that almost seems embarrassed, or perhaps to arrogant, to play with playoff urgency for 60mins. NYR DOMINATED Pgh and all you have is tilted blame on fill-in roster spots and their respective ineffectiveness? How about the esteemed “C”? Or #71? Or #14? Or #17? Or even #16? And like a script borrowed from a politician, go and deflect attention to a secondary story (i.e. Rutherford BS). Toe the line company man!

I believe NYR has watched plenty of game film and knows that there is .0000000000001 chance a puck is going to be directed towards the net from a Pgh forward coming down the wing, or said forward is going to take a straight line/puck to the net. What about the fore-checking and punishing NYR’s defense? How about some criticism for a complete lack of net drive/ net-front presence? Too much to ask for? Pgh has to be the only playoff team in the league without NFP (EXCEPT #72). No worries though… we’ll be able to make tape-to-tape, highlight reels plays on the PP, once we earn one. Or better, yet, score on #30 from the side-wall. Simply (IMO) this group has not evolved (especially the forwards) their post season style of play as fast as the rest of the league. The game has changed, obstruction exists, and Pgh still tries to play pond hockey through it. How about a simple north-south game, pepper #30 with 40-45 shots a game and OUTWORK (not out-skill) NYR and get some greasy goals!

The same-old injury-related excuses + player mis-usage thing is tiresome. It is what it is and Pgh has to roll with it. Adversity?! You might be able to fool most of the casual fans with the zone exist critique, however let me point out that without relevant context, the description thereof is hyper-biased. By context, I mean either controlled break-outs vs. relieving pressure/ extended zone time by chipping the puck out to the neutral zone. The latter is always the safe/ conservative defensive play. Zone exits/ entries are a huge part of the game (and very difficult to track), however, as usual, you tell 1/2 the story.

At least Pgh has at least 2x to try and fix their game for the better.

I'm sorry Mike Johnston has to go I just watched the game he needs to be female doging up a storm about officiating not supporting interference. Both goals scored immediately after terrible non calls. This league sucks. 3 games officiating playing a major factor in the results.

It would make no difference if anyone in the organization called out the refs. It has already been decided that while the Rangers are the #1 seeded, presidents trophy winning team, they will also be given an advantage from the officials. Because allowing the 8th seeded Pens with the most banged up defensive corp in history to play on fair terms is too much of a risk to the possible tv ratings.

It's just more fuel for the fire that must be burning in the Pens locker room. After the last 10 mins of game 3 I have no doubt that we will win this series.

Pens take the next 3.

I don't like how MJ stays on the bench and has a little whiny face whenever there's a penalty. Show some emotion other than looking like a little female dog. Get down and scream at the refs or your players. Do something to get the team fired up

Do the coaches get fined if they publicly criticise the refs? Here they get 10k fines.

They might be goading the coaches into saying something just to get the cash? Everyone seems to be saying the same thing for most teams so some directive has been given - everyone couldn't be wrong?

I knew from day 1 it would be a challenge for HCMJ to try and "work the refs". Brought him in from juniors and it simply takes time to earn respect. Even though he has some NHL experience, he's probably never uttered a word to an NHL ref.

Even though he's much better than Disco at X's and O's, he probably wasn't the right choice for this team.

Here is where he has to learn. Watch videos of the guys that have gone before him & get his message across (google - tooveys rant YouTube), may not have to go that far but he gets the drift of the message. Incidentally, after that Geoff Tooveys team got a better shake with the refs.

Calling-out #87...

1st shift tomorrow night is the absolute perfect time for a public display of leadership --- Giroux style --- set the tone for your team, the game, and for the rest of the series.

Crosby is about the last player that needs to be called out. Malkin needs to provide much more.

Well I have been watching hockey for over 55 years now. Saw the first Penguin game ever. But now the time has come. I am done. I gave up my season tickets a few years back and have never regretted it. The NHL plus guys like Lamorello have ruined the game that I loved so much. They pay slugs to hinder the skill players show their stuff. Why pay a guy big money when he will never be able to show his skill. Put 20 slugs on the ice every night and play soccer on ice. Pay them minimum salaries and you will probably get the same results. And the ticket prices will be a lot more affordable. The product is old and outdated. Neandorthals could be better. Oh wait we have a lot of those playing right now. No more Center Ice package for me, they can all go F themselves. The NHL is a F'in joke

Couple of things:
1) my phone really isn't compatable with this new site setup

B) even with injuries JR could have done more at deadline then sending our 2 top grit D away for 2 average players ( I like Cole and his age and cap)

3) I'm getting pissed with all of our players being injured.. Now kap is injured in wbs.. Wtf is it a curse or something

D) I keep saying let the youth play. I would rather have Wilson Megna rust/ebbett as our 4th line all yr then some of these guys.. They would have learned a lot through the season and taken less penalties and could have scored more the. What our 4th line scored.

5) even tho ufa this yr sucks and we have no good picks in this yes deep draft... Pens need to let some of these guys walk.. Anyway martin would stay for 4mil/2-3yr deal?? Anyway pens can trade him to Minny at draft for a 3rd or 4th?

- nh4442

Wilson is on the team right now, megna had his chance and did nothing with it, Ebbet is like 46 years old and hopefully Rust gets more time next year. Why does everyone assume Minnesota wants Martin, they have as many good prospects on d as we do?

You're not the only person with this attitude. My dad has had season tickets for 12 years and he goes to a handful of games. The $$/ticket/food/parking for the product just isn't there. The Pens and the NHL need to make some adjustments. The waiting list for season tickets has dropped. He knows quite a few not re hewing their tickets as well.
- sammy87

Thats pretty much the state of the union address for Penguins fans. The most undeserving, spoiled, unforgiving fans in professional sports. Do you know what it costs to see a Maple Leafs game let alone season tickets and they suck and have sucked for 50 years!!! Oh and the Sharks, Kings and Bruins didn't even make the playoffs and none of them had the injury devastation that the Penguins did. And while I'm ranting that no LTIR with less than 10 games remaining is the most ridiculous rule in existence, the end of the season, after 4 months of grind every players body is worn down and battered, is the time they have no exceptions for the salary cap?!? I'm so sick of reading Penguins fans female doging and moaning about the state of this team. They are in the playoffs and in the series against a team that is supposed to better than they are, yet even with all their horses they can barely beat this team that has half of their horses dead and buried in the ground. Can't you, just one time, say hey thats a pretty good job guys, most people would have given up long ago faced with a lot less odds.
