Even with Eichel and Reinhart here, I could see Buffalo still in the mix for a top 3 pick.

The learning curve is always there.

to be honest, I like the idea of reinhart adding to his frame and at least starting out in Rochester.

there's a chance...always is
- Michael Pachla

there is no chance if he stays then I know he's pulling some shi!t that means he will pull a blake wheeler, justin schultz ,kevin hayes type of bull sh!t. there's absolutely no reason why he would stay he won every goddamn award there's nothing left what would be the point the only one I can think about would be the loophole

I don't think so new coaching, a few player upgrades, this team may not make the playoffs and will thus be in the lotto but I think they will be in hunt next year

Just a note: even if the Sabres take him, he may not attend prospect camp if he decides to go back to college. As an NCAA player, he would have to pay his own way for transportation/meals/lodging or else lose his NCAA eligibility.

In the Hunt is a 40+ point swing. IMO, that is very unlikely. Even with new coaching, and player upgrades. Your starting Centers are all very very young and are going to make "Rookie mistakes"

don't say that the playoff crowds are going to be upset lol

but yes I agree will most likely be picking in the top 4 but we won't be as bad as this year the team will be fun to watch for once I can't wait

mmm...good point...pretty sure that his parents would take care of that...and if, for some reason, they can't or won't, we'll set up an "i like eichel" fund

and that's why I hate O'Connor right now but I don't see him going back if he does I'll start to wonder if he's going to do that loophole and just sign with Boston as a free agent

Excellent blog as usual Michael. I believe there are $1 million plus reasons as to why Eichel is playing for the blue and gold next year.

Regarding the above = agree 100%

Draft day - Sabre take Eichel
Day after draft day - Eichel signs contract.

That is pretty much how it is gona go, IMO.

I think no matter what good reasoning Eichel would have for staying another year in NCAA it would look very poorly for the Buffalo organization.

Eichel is a world class talent that would have gone #1 in most years. IMO the only reason he doesn't go to buffalo in his draft year is because he is NOT happy with the organization. There is no reason he should pass up on millions of dollars, being closer to FA, and move to the next level which by all accounts is one he should make fairly easily.

If he is as good as everyone says another year in NCAA is just a waste. He has the size and skill to be a effective NHLer next yea.

- Aerchon

with all due respect, that's a bunch of crap
- Michael Pachla

I agree. I believe Toews decided to stay in college the extra year after he was drafted and by all accounts he is world class and likes his organization.

It could. Or he could go back to school for up to 4 years. Not saying either's gonna happen, just the possibilities.

What I think is gonna happen will be that he signs for this season, but not necessarily after 1 day. I'm sure he'd like to meet members of the front office a bit first.

As soon as this season ends, IMO Reinhart is going to bust his arse to bulk up and add power.

He only needs to add 5-7 pounds, and with the right diet and exercise, which will be lead by Buffalo, he could do in 3 months.

Stated this the other day Boos - if Eichel goes back to BU for a year, then Buffalo gets an even more developed franchise player that will be on an entry level contract even later and it gives the rest of the team a "free" year to develop amongst themselves.

it's not only Eichel that will be added to the team, it's: Pysyk, Grigorenko, Larsson, Reinhart, etc. A year for them to all meld is not going to hurt

There goes that 2 year rebuild.
- Cptmjl

It was never a 2 year rebuild, Murray just said that these 2 drafts are the most important, the foundation of the rebuild. He's even stated its going to take more then just these two drafts so youre dumb
