Why?

What about the beginning of the quote, where he said it would be really nice to play in Buffalo?

Eichel said it, but it was before the lottery...

“I’m really excited for the future, whatever that may be,” he said. “It would be really nice to play

- JCSabs06[in Buffalo]. There’s a lot of tradition there, and it’s obviously a great hockey city.”

Eichel has also pointed out the upside of staying in school -- a school that has already named him one of its alternate captains for 2015-16.

"It would be another great year of development, college hockey and life with coach [David] Quinn,” Eichel told the Boston Herald on April 12.

“There are positives to it any way you look at it. At the end of the day, when a decision has to be made, I will make it with my family and with my heart. I don’t want to be somewhere that I don’t want to be.”

One part of the quote doesn't really tell the whole story. Kind of like how some of what Murray said on Saturday was taken out of context.

What I don't get is where could he have gone other than EDM/BUF/AZ/TOR?

I mean if he was expecting a miracle ball to pop up then he needs to keep dreaming. I can't imagine either of the other 3 places other than BUF that would peak more interest in playing. I know he's a boston kid, so I can't imagine he was salvating to join the leafs, I guess he might have been pumped to play with 3 other #1s in EDM, but again, US born kid prolly not too pumped to move there or he could go to the desert and hope the franchise magically turns it around in a few years.

Buffalo (I don't' live) may not be the bright lights and big city of Boston, but its a great hockey city and the team has plenty of upside coming its way, so any smart hockey player can see the writing on the wall for this team in the next few years, sure that's the optimistic part of me saying that, but I can't see where else in the draft he thought he could possibly go.

"I don’t want to be somewhere that I don’t want to be.” well, again, unless the miracle ball came up, he must have known since last year the 5 most likely teams he was going to be on so, i think that's just an 18 year old speaking from the heart, but once immersed in the culture of hockey town that the city and team provides, I think he'll be happy to be a Sabre (ask matt moulson why he came back. Not like he was joining a cup contender by any means like he could have singed with)

3 situations I always try to keep my cool. The DMV, the post office....and if pulled over. Its all in the approach with those people. They can ruin your day real quick if they want to.

But Murray's words really weren't taken out of context he was purely backtracking on his foot in mouth words.

When you say that you feel sorry for the fans and you feel the need to apologize to the fan base for not getting McDavid directly after the lottery not only to local but national media as well, that is a straight up slap in Eichel's face.

How would you feel if you were Eichel and you heard those words come out of your prospective employers mouth?

But this is the loose lipped guy most of you want running this franchise?

At least I know I don't.

He's not going to last here.

Yeah, a gm that actually tells the truth, instead of bullsh!tting his way through a question, would NEVER last in a blue collar city like Buffalo.

Your blind hatred for this man manifests itself in the most comical posts on this site.

Thank you.

So the GM of your team should come out and say 'Oh, we were the worst team, but we don't get the top pick in the draft. No biggie.' Come on, man.

When he was asked how he felt about it, he complained about the process. Not the player they're going to get. He actually in the same quote that Eichel is a hell of a player.

But that's ok. Keep hating on him. No skin off my back.

I believe the quote "I don’t want to be somewhere that I don’t want to be.”
was referring to the fact that if he had to go to Rochester and ride the buses he would be better off to stay in college . Should not be an issue with being on the Sabres.

He 100% said what I said he said.
He apologized to the fans for not getting McDavid in an open interview with the National media.
If I am Eichel I am taken back by that statement, any human being would be.
But you can keep ignoring that part.
Some of you talk about my "blind hate" when in reality some of you have "blind love" for the guy.

i don't love him. But he hasn't done anything for me to hate him either. So far, I feel he's done his job. Until he does otherwise, there's no reason for me to dislike him for any reason. I know, he fired your best friend Nolan, so now you have a huge agenda trying to make him seem like the worst human on the face of the planet.

Get over it.

If that's all it takes to get him rattled then we may as well trade the pick. I don't about you but I would want someone with thicker skin.

So Eichel should be taken aback by the fact Murray believes, like every expert and central scouting, that McDavid is the best player in the draft?

and if anything it should put a chip on the shoulder to be the best player ever and show everyone Connor McDavid who that would probably be his goal that is probably the number one reason why he wasn't at the draft lottery he doesn't want to be second to him
