He was a guy i could have seen the team keep around for veteran leadership. Unless he wanted out. I think he would be showing kids how to be a professional just as well, if not better, than Gionta or Moulson.

2 way player, great pk guy

curse of death when he was named captain

Him being captain is what wrote his ticket out of town, it was either strip it from him at some point or trade him. History shows we chose the latter

Well, here's to the future having many more good players we can bicker about for hours on end. Only hopefully they win this time around lol

with our deep prospect pool, why doesn't anyone have any love for JT Compher anymore? Hardly any mentions for Fasching either.
- SabreWest

I know Kris Baker mentions Compher regularly. fashing is still young....granted, the same age as Eichel, but a work in progress development-wise. I like that kids story and want nothing more than to see hin succeed.

On that team, sure. But this year? Him vs. gionta?
I think id pick pommenville. And i dont even hate gionta.
Its probably more about what Murray could get for him than leadership ability.

I'd still vote Gionta

Seabrook, nice OT goal. Would be amazing to see him in a Sabre uniform if the Hawks have cap issues.....

He's a UFA in one year. I'd rather wait until then

At this point in time Pommer is the better player by a mile.

Pominville is definitely the better player. I was talking leadership wise

He could cash in big on the open market. I guess it's up to what he wants to do

He'll be 31.

Well rooted in Chicago.

A 4/5 yr deal at 6-6.3 per could keep him in the same city for life.

He gets to play with 3 of the best players in the game.

If I were betting, I'd hedge the bet he re-ups by mid July of this year taking less money than on the open market. Might even be a 7/8 year deal to give him more cash up front and help keep the cap hit down for Chicago.

Sharp, Bickell, and Hjalmarsson are my front runners to be moved in the offseason followed by Versteeg and possibly Hossa.

Either way Chicago has some cap work to do.

This triple OT kept me up way too late, I'm off for the night. Have a good one

Well that was weird. We talked about the kid a few hours before he signed with Buffalo.

I noticed that yesterday as well. I like the signing. It'll give Eichel a familiar face in the room during Training Camp. Most likely he's going to Rochester though, so hopefully Eichel doesn't get too attached.

Kind of glad the goalie has removed Buffalo from his possibles, not only because of his gaffs (which I think he can overcome), but because then it's just all too "friendly" and crony-ish to just pull in so many BU players.

Agreed. I didn't see anything out of him that makes me feel like he would be a better developmental prospect than the guys we already have in the system in goal. And bringing him in would stunt the development of one of the ones we already have. We have plenty of goaltending prospects. It's just a matter of which one is going to work out.

Sadly, I think Lieuwen may be done due to concussions, but there's still Makarov and Ullmark that will be in Rochester next year, Petersen and Kasdorf in the NCAA ranks, and Jonas Johansson in Europe. The cupboard isn't exactly bare, it's just very raw.

Wasn't he traded anyways, or waived or something?

Edit: nm, that was Legio (sp?)

No. He's still suffering effects from the concussion he got while he was in Buffalo after the Miller trade. But he waited until about halfway through the season to tell anyone that he was having vision issues. They shut him down for the rest of the year. It happened right around when Hackett was healthy enough to come back.

Did Ullmark heal from the injury, or is it going to linger around a while?
