I'm going to preface this by saying the selection is far-fetched, but it's just a scenario for opinions...

If Boston were to go nuts and decide they want to leapfrog everyone and trade for #1 to select Eichel - the hometown boy - would they have the pieces to do it?

With new management coming in, perhaps a crazy move to the top would be a thought for them overall (again, I know the realistic pick is McDavid)

Short answer no.

Long answer if they still had Seguin yes but they don't. They also don't have the depth on D or a 10 year younger Chara that would begin the conversation. But they don't

I would make that deal. Oshie would fill out the top 6.
- ImThatGuy

How about this guy:

Jason Pomminville...man wouldn't he be the ideal guy to add to the top 6

We have Moulson for another 4 seasons. No need to replace him yet anyway. Remember he did have over 40 points this year playing on a god awful team. Give him a center like Reinhart and PP time he should be around 50-60 points playing as a 2nd line winger.

I would think a guy like Bailey could be the ideal 2nd line winger in 3-4 years if he keeps improving his skating or a guy like Fasching. I like Gus I just want better as my second line scoring winger.

- Stripes77

Doesn't mean I have to like it!

Like I said, I agree with you, but this isn't exactly horrible:

Girgenons-Reinhart-Oshie/Ennis (based on your trade still)
Moulson-Larsson-Gionta

Larsson and Moulson were 2/3 of the tandem playing well at the end. Though I did leave Grigorenko out... Grigorenko-Reinhart-Oshie could be good as well

kids only been over 20 goals once. I'd just prefer to add someone with more of a scoring touch is all. But if the price isn't to much adding him will obviously improve the offense.
- Smittyx36

Remember you are giving up a late 1st rd pick. Those higher scoring forwards are going to cost you more. Also they are rarely available.

At this point I prefer Eichel as I think McDavid would cost way too much to swap picks

Murray will still try, you can bet on it.

I was fine with pick 2 as well. I was only ticked because Edmonton got another freaking 1st overall pick. Hell I would have even been ok with Toronto getting him. Yes, even Toronto. The rivalry would have been great for a looooong time. But no, Edmonton, the black hole gets him.
- burner087

No. Toronto deserves nothing.

Just because he tries doesn't mean anything, i'm sure other teams will try as well but I doubt the Oilers bite.

but he doesn't play when the games mean something or when the going gets tough, OR so I was told.
- ImThatGuy

That's right, some dippoop said Eichel was going to be a bust bc he only scored 1 assist in the final game. Yeah. That's right.

I disagree. I think it would go against his mission of a short rebuild. You're giving up too much for no reason what so ever. This isn't step 1 to step 8... it's step 7.8 to step 8. What a waste it would be. And that's if the Oilers bite. Which they won't for any reasonable or beyond reasonable price.. maybe for an insane price, which would damage this team much more than help.

I'll boil my shoe and eat it.

Anyone else think that if the Blues go out in the first round that Hitchcock might get canned? Would anyone want him as the Sabres coach?

They lost the pieces when they lost Seguin for cheap scrap metal and a bag of cement.

Bust? No.

However, the fact that he has been unspectacular when it mattered in both the World Juniors and the Frozen Four Final is why I'm still disappointed in losing the lottery.

There's no doubt that Jack Eichel will score a lot of goals and help the Sabres win a lot of games. The question lies in how many big games will he help the Sabres win, and his body of work leaves that a big question mark.

If the NHL wanted to control where "the new face of the NHL would be", Buffalo wouldn't be the place they'd want him.

That's been debunked. There's no conspiracy, and Buffalo didn't get screwed there. The guy hit the button at the 10 second mark, and then double clutched it. The ball that came up was correct and the 11-ball was placed back into the fold.

as you can see that's why the lottery was not rigged if they knew the Oilers we're going to get the pick they would have rigged it ..

you honestly think they're happy about losing the new face of the NHL where no one can see him play they can't even market him
