I think lumping mact into tambelllinis failures would be much like calling murray inadequate for regeirs failures when he left.

extremely shortsighted and not understanding the real issues in edm

- Ihateallofu

but haven't mac t and k lowe been constants with different titles through all of this?

This always seems to be the Oilers defense. "It wasn't this guy, so our team isn't mismanaged"

Well, first off, MacTavish has been there such a short time you can't really say yet, but it also doesn't magically erase the years of ineptitude that preceded him. I don't think I've ever seen any poster - and I read through Ek's blog - say "MacTavish is mismanaging the Oilers". It's the history of the team over the last decade-ish

The Sabres have the picks, players and prospects to get McDavid if Murray get's the green light to make that move, not saying Mac T does the deal but i'm sure he will listen.
- SABRES 89

Don't get me wrong, I'd love McD but it'd be a colossal overpayment to get him. I'll take Eichel, keep Reinhart, Pysek and all those 1st rounders it would take.

The only way I'm okay with this is if we keep Girgensons, the #2 and give up anything else. McDavid, Eichel, Girgensons as a 1, 2, 3?

But I doubt the trade happens without the #2 pick so I'm not down for it.

And what an ass Murray would look like if Reinhart was part of the deal to land McDavid?

Ech. This is ridiculous. Just take Eichel and be done with it.

- DynamicThreads

I found out a few things late last night and as of now it will take both 1st we have this year, A D man a Forward and a 2nd round pick. now that is just what I was told late last night, not saying that will happen or the Pegula and Murray will go that route. so before everyone comes down on me, step back and relax for a minute.

I'm sure folks can figure out for themselves what D man it would be.

Because what the Toronto Maple Leafs did was tank. Being terrible by design in order to turn your roster completely over, where only 4 NHL players in a 3 year period remain on the team is NOT a tank job. Its a rebuild. It was a rebuild for the Penguins. It was for the Blackhawks. It was for the Kings. It was for the Oilers until they followed it by years of incompetence.... If the Sabres were just outside the playoffs last year and nose dived to last place, THATS a tank job (IE Arizona, or IE Leafs this year). The only reason people brought up "tank" was because of Connor McDavid. The next Crosby. Generational player. That our rebuild coincided with McDavid's draft is pure coincidence. Nobody told us we tanked last year.

Im happy with Eichel. More than happy. We're going to love watching him play. Im not mad at Edmonton fans. Its just very disappointing that of all the teams to win the lottery, it was (frank)ing Edmonton, again.... I wouldve rather have seen any of the 12 other teams, including Toronto, win over Edmonton. Again, nothing against you fans, you deserve better, but that was crap.

- theblueandgold

totally entitled to that. and I respect that. id assume lots of fans feel the same way.

however, I do have an issue with this notion of macts imcompetence. I don't think hes near the culprit that so many have decided for so many reasons.
but again, totally entitled to your opinion

not true. they drafted klefbom and nurse.
and signed ference, fayne, nikitin and whatever other warm body would agree to sign there for an overpay (belov, grebeshkov, foster, Sutton etc etc)
not to mention, the number of players that refused a trade to edm when asked to waive ntc

these ideas that become fact somehow on social media is so weird. theyre myths, propagated by easy answers. but not true at all.

- Ihateallofu

Signing whatever warm body isn't really addressing the issue. They needed D help when they drafted Yakupov, and IMO, should have taken Murray instead. I think they would be in a better place now. There's also plenty of guys that are under contract that they could have traded for that don't have NMC/NTC built into their contract. It's a matter of not wanting to give up anything to do so.

Just like so many other fan bases like to point out, you have to give to get, and the Oil just didn't seem interested in doing anything like that.

Sabres posters have earned more bans than these so called "trolls". I ban people for personal attacks, not for talking poop about hockey teams. It's a hockey forum

I had a better name, but some ref forced me to change it.

im talking hockey. period.

you can take however you want, but I have a feeling that if you had mcdavid in your pocket, there would be no touchiness involved in talking hockey.

you guys have torn the oilers apart FAR FAR FAR more than Ive said negative about the sabres. but either way, its fine. it doesn't bother me.

Sorry. I know I'm not the first to use it but it should be auto-changed like everything else is.

I won't use it again.

I'm sorry you had to be the "example", but I've seen that word a few times in the last 24 hours (not all here) and I cringe at it's use.

Nah, not coming down on you and I think its awesome you have a contact and bring us information, seriously thumbsup

What about instead, if we offered This year's late 1st, next year's 1st and even the year after that's 1st and some combination of players? Does EDM really need another top 3 pick? Fix what you have IMO, then if you still can't climb out of the botoom then IDK wtf to tell you, hah.

Then, NO!

It's Risto.

Then what? Who's the forward? Girgensons probably?

KEEP THE PICK, TIMMY!!!

IMO, Risto or Psysk. Don't know how the Oilers feel about big Z but IMO, that doesn't get them what they want. We would have no choice to give the Oilers both 1st rounders we have this year.

That's not horrible, depending on the D-man of course, which obviously the first name is Ristolainen and then I don't like it. Eichel's not THAT bad that I'd give up what is widely though of as the future franchise d-man of the team

Thank you

IMO, in order to get the Oilers to even consider making a move with the Sabres we would have to give them both 1st rounders we have this year. They draft Eichel and use the other pick from us and the Pens to try and grab Hanifan.
