I won't be disappointed when it turns out he's imperfect: I've seen way too much to ever think that about anyone.

But it bothers me equally to see somebody criticized for something they didn't even do: the soundbite that people are bothered over is one clause of an otherwise very balanced statement that was quite supportive of Eichel.

Anyone who just read (red) the headline would think Murray was drunk last night, but his actual quote sounded pretty damn reasonable.

"We're disappointed not to get (the) first (pick), but we're happy with second. (There are) two franchise-changing guys in this draft. We drafted a center last year. We're going to draft a center again," Murray said. "You need to be strong down the middle."

"Knowing you have an 80 percent chance going in not to win, this is what you expect," he said.

The Sabres GM said the team has no plans to trade the No. 2 pick. Murray believes Eichel can contribute right away.

Tell me why anyone ought to have an issue with this statement. In formulating your response, address the fact that Murray's quote is made in reply to a question asking for the franchise's reaction to the draft lottery.

Sure. But the point is that it should have been in place. It's bad to have one team holding 3 consecutive #1 picks. Even more troubling is that you're still a bottom 5 team.

There is nothing wrong with it at all. Why would you want to finish 2nd at anything? He rightfully stated the worst team should pick 1st. Draft lotteries are stupid. It's even more stupid that they changed the odds after last season just to make it moe likely the worst time wouldn't get McDavid.

False as I don't read anything on here but a few bloggers and the Oilers guys were never one of them.
