Agreed...but Murry would have solved (frank) all, present day.
- Jeropotato

Like I said injuries aside.

The wise choice was Murray.

They drafted a luxury, something they weren't in a position to do.

IMO one of Hall, RNH, or Ebs is as good as gone. No way they move the McDavid pick or Draisaitl.

You guys tanked purposefully tho....getting rid of 2 goalies for pooptier ones , trading for a player on IR. Nobody made a more concerted effort to finish last that TM. The Oilers tried to improve this offseason, and traded none of our UFA's.....just failed at winning.
- Jeropotato

I gotta disagree there... It was the new goaltenders who played so well that they almost took the Sabres out of 30th place.... Let's face it... The Sabres stunk period.. They did set a team record for losses in a row prior to trading away those players... Remember? The Sabres are a terrible team and have been for 4 years in a row now....

He tried to get him at last years deadline. Said as much(without saying the player) in his post 2014 TD presser. Said it was something he'd revisit in the offseason.

Couldn't agree with you more. Why can't people understand that if the Sabres did not tank to improve they would have been a perennial 9th place team with no hopes of trading to improve or signing top notch UFA's.... Nobody wanted to be in Buffalo... What is so hard to understand about this?

It's not. Try running a team out of EDmonton.

So trade RNH and go with 2 rookies at center? Unlikely.

While I agree, past choices don't have me thinking the right move is made.

I do hope for you and your fellow fans I am wrong.

IMO the wise move is to move Ebs. He's the least likely missed.

Really? Link? I don't recall that at all, but if you say it's so the burden of proof lies with you.

You should know, it was from an Edmonton Journal article. However, it's no longer posted, here's the Yahoo article that shares the excerpt.

Nugent-Hopkins said the labrum is an issue that stems from his second season with the Red Deer Rebels.
He did not use it as an excuse for the drop in his production this season.

the season they refer to is his production is the rookie season with the Oil.

He was our leading scorer last year....and we were 26th in scoring I do beleive. Someone has gotta go, I have a feeling it's Yak or LD.

When he only got 52 points in 62 games? Lol...No....they are talking his sophomore season, 2012-13 ( lockout shortened)

IMO

Yak has little value for being a #1 pick.

Draisaitl won't get you the defenseman needed as he will be as raw if not rawer.

Ebs might.

Hall definitely will.

Maybe a Yak and Draisaitl package? IDK.

Maybe. We also have the Penguins 1st, 2 2nds, and 2 3rds to play with.....so Mac T better get his ass in gear before draft day.

You're right on that, the low productivity was the lockout season. Regardless, he admits to having a wearing labrum issue since junior.

Ah well....you gotta remember where we were at the time, had to sell hope to the fans....but again, what does this have to do with MacT, who was in the Canucks organization at the time?
When you say management, you are referring to the current manager, no?

Anyone who just read (red) the headline would think Murray was drunk last night, but his actual quote sounded pretty damn reasonable.

"We're disappointed not to get (the) first (pick), but we're happy with second. (There are) two franchise-changing guys in this draft. We drafted a center last year. We're going to draft a center again," Murray said. "You need to be strong down the middle."

"Knowing you have an 80 percent chance going in not to win, this is what you expect," he said.

The Sabres GM said the team has no plans to trade the No. 2 pick. Murray believes Eichel can contribute right away.

From ScoreMobile.

Nothing there to make Eichel want to stay in school.

That's a pure class organization. "Yeah, we know Ryan's got some nagging shoulder thing... And he's pretty underweight, but nah, let's throw him right in the fire."

It's fun to watch him play, but I feel bad for anyone getting drafted by the oil. Seems like they have a long list of rushed players with shoulder problems. Call me crazy, but I don't think it's a coincidence.

If he doesn't go back to Detroit he at the very least considers them. They have crappy management, but a boat load of talent.
- Punch70

Babcock's wife is from the Edmonton area as well as he has close knit ties with current Oilers management so I would bet there is a decent chance of him going there if he turns down Detriot. I am not holding my breath over it though.

Ok, the tanking is over and it's time to move on!

We have our 3 top centers (Reinhart, Eichel & Girgs)

We have prospects up the a$$ and picks - flip these into some cap strapped teams that need to dump salary - San Jose, Kings......

Goalie - go get Gibson!

It's time to grab a vet D-Man (Green/Martin) and Forward (Sharp/ROR) and stop the talk of tanking, nothing is ever 100% (concussions, knee injuries ........)

Let's just start talking playoffs and how we can get there, because it's killing me year after year watching these playoffs and NOT watching my hometown team!

Looking forward to 2015-16 playoff run, nothing less will be accepted!
