Than you need to compete with a "few" other teams for the pick.
Doesn't matter, he'll play for the Oil. Wishful thinking on everyone else's part that he pulls a Lindros. Whatever provides you with hope, I suppose. - Jeropotato
That same kind of hope that RNH was the next one? Boy, I remember that hype. All those top round picks and yet still can't build a team. |

This I did not know... Thank you - rapperray
Even if he signs in 3 years for another team he has to be on an ELC for a couple years, and he doesn't get closer to free agency. Financially, for a player his calibre, he can lose close to 30 million dollars that route. |

I think Nuge is on pace to exceed what I thought his potential was. I see him as a very similar player to Sedin. More productive at his age already. Nobody thought Nuge was in Crosbys class, ever.
Want to try and take another run at it,That last effort was weak. |

No, I have. I'm a big fan of the Nuge. It's just sad how talented they are up front, yet management can't seem to figure out "Oh yeah, Defense. That's a thing." |

We know it, and management knows it. But unless we can figure out how to go back in time and draft D in 2007-09' , how are they supposed to get them? |

What? They hyped RNH to have Gretzky like vision and playmaking skills. "Some argued better than Crosby in a few years". The thing I didn't agree with was rushing him up to the NHL with that nagging shoulder. And sure enough.. |

It disappoints me to hear a "sabres fan" post this....... - rapperray
I'm a fan of doing things properly in life far more than I am a Sabres fan.
He got what he deserved for the deliberate tank, karma always wins out in the end.
The only thing that what would have made it much more enjoyable for me was to see his face when he knew he was not getting McDavid.
Just the way i'm built is all. |

Oh, I don't know. Maybe try drafting more defensemen in the second and first round? It's working so far with Nurse and Klefbom, yeah? the only other defensemen you drafted early in the past 5 years were Marincin and Musil. That's it. |

Fair enough....but if you think Murray would have made an Impact up to now on the Oilers you put too much stock in 20 yr old D men. |

Darcy started the tank but keep blaming Murray for it.
The team he built had more points than the team he took over from Darcy last year.
And don't give me the well Murray traded Miller and if Miller wasn't traded they'd have had more points bs either. We all knew Miller was gone no matter who the GM was. |

PLEASE. The Oil have been tanking for years. Every sports team that knows they have no shot at getting real talent is "just tank." Hell, look at the NBA. Look at what Toronto did, yet they're still rewarded with a top 5 pick AND THEY WERE MORE DELIBERATE IN TANKING THAN THE SABRES. Sitting their best scorer on the 4th line? They were ON PACE to getting into the playoffs, but no, "integrity" and all that.
If I have to listen to someone else say "The Sabres don't deserve a #1 overall pick", I'm going to poop kittens. |

Okay, so prior to 2010 then right? Y know, so they would be making an impact now? Not sure how Mac T can be faulted for that. The fault lies with the guy that was GM from 2007-2009. |

Oh I don't.
I said prior to the draft that it has been a long time since there was a bust. My feeling then and still is that Yak is it. I'm not always about drafting a need but when you have Hall, RNH, and Ebs the last thing in the world you needed was Yak. Murray or Galchenyuk were the wiser choice IMO. |

You guys tanked purposefully tho....getting rid of 2 goalies for pooptier ones , trading for a player on IR. Nobody made a more concerted effort to finish last that TM. The Oilers tried to improve this offseason, and traded none of our UFA's.....just failed at winning. |

Couldn't agree with you more. Why can't people understand that if the Sabres did not tank to improve they would have been a perennial 9th place team with no hopes of trading to improve or signing top notch UFA's.... Nobody wanted to be in Buffalo... What is so hard to understand about this? |
