They certainly do need more, from both of them.

I'm not latching onto point totals, I'm simply pointing out the disparity in comparing Connolly to Schenn, in terms of production. Connolly is a guy that had issues not only being productive in the NHL, but even sticking in the NHL after being a high pick.

Schenn, despite his flaws, has been a regular skater for the Flyers. Connolly had issues playing regularly on a couple of weak Tampa teams, before being surpassed by others.

Comparing BSchenn to Brett "34 points in 139 games" Connolly is completely asinine.

And yet, Tampa gave Connolly the development time that young players are allegedly supposed to receive, and gave him opportunities to succeed at the NHL level, and it was his failure to produce that got him surpassed and shipped out of town.

Brett Connolly was an AHL All-Star last season, as a 21-year-old. He still has time to develop, but scored 12 goals this season -- just six fewer than Brayden Schenn, despite playing 27 fewer games at the NHL level and being one year younger than Schenn.

Keep telling yourself that you're so smart that Connolly, or any other young player, won't develop more than Brayden Schenn has, with the opportunities that Schenn has been repeatedly given

By the way? Brayden Schenn after 115 games, which included two full NHL seasons: 44 points

Brayden Schenn's not that great. He just isn't. He's produced some, with great usage and with other players who are helpful. He's been given every opportunity to succeed and still manages to do less with more. Maybe he will grow more consistent.

But maybe he won't. His development has been slow, and there's nothing he does well enough to guarantee he's going to do more than he's already doing

You're right, there is nothing to guarantee that he's going to become a more consistent player. Just as you preach that patience should be used with a player like Connolly, the same applies with Schenn. 47 points is not a bad total, even with the inconsistency. His real problem is goal scoring. He never went more then 6 games last season without recording a point. However, he had a stretch of 42 games where he scored 3 goals in that span. That's horrendous.

That's the thing: It's not that Schenn does nothing. It's that he's certainly eligible for criticism and concern that he's not going to answer the bell when needed.

The Flyers put up with the inconsistency in his game because they don't have more options. The difference between Connolly and Schenn -- with Connolly being one year younger and posting a season this year that looks exactly like Schenn's 20-year-old season -- is that Yzerman doesn't have to wait for a player with some holes in his game to figure it out -- if he ever does.

In a way, I think that is true, because Tampa has a lot of depth and some real good young players. Even if that was the case with the Flyers, I still wouldn't want them to give up on B Schenn. I'd only be open to trading B Schenn if he was involved in a deal for a top young 2 way defenseman, or for a young natural LW that was more of a skater/playmaker type.

12 goals and 5 assists for 17 points in 55 games this season versus 18 goals and 29 assists for 47 points in 82 games. You're so desperate to downplay what BSchenn has done you're going to pretend assists aren't points now and just go by goals?

And BSchenn was a 45 point player (pro rated) in the NHL when he was 21. That's quicker development than being an AHL All Star.

Like I said, completely asinine.

After his first 110 NHL games, which all came before he turned 22, BSchenn actually had 46 points. Connolly's stats before turning 22? 84 games, 17 points.

for the love of me I always thought McDavid would go to Buffalo because he plays in Erie. But all I've heard out of Buffalo is how they are ready for Eichel.

Now I think McDavid is going to Arizona and be reunited with domi and duclair.

I'm not desperate to prove anything to you -- you have no idea what Brett Connolly is going to do with more opportunity. None whatsoever -- but the fact that he was an AHL-Star at 21 indicates that he is still developing as a player WITHOUT the prime opportunities that Schenn has been given.

The only desperation here is pretending that Brayden Schenn improved from last year to this year -- which is kinda the whole point.

You do no not know if Schenn will improve. You have absolutely no idea. You hope he will, based on a late flurry of production when they were eliminated, ignoring the fact that somehow, some way, a guy who played on the first, second and third lines, and in the first power play, managed to score three goals in 42 games.

Yeah. Saying that is a good season is desperate.
