What a tough call for Hextall -- Streit has done nothing to deserve to be dealt, but this team isn't going to be ready next year and while I do value veteran presence, you probably shouldn't be eating a 5.25 cap hit on a player who is the age he is and not winning

I don't know what I'd do, tbh

still though. streit could be dealt for a quality asset, with no salary being retained. to me thats pretty indicative that he has been a good signing.

I would deal him for a first. They're already rebuilding. The first rounder is more important than his veteran leadership imo. It opens up cap space to sign another veteran if they feel its necessary.

The way Hexy spoke, I doubt they move him.

sometimes you gotta get value before the goods spoil... ifi had a crystal ball to tell me streit stays on par with how he's played id keep him but theres too much dead weight on this roster as is.

I was in favor of the signing, and he has done what I thought he would -- actually been a little more solid in his own end than I expected. He's been the least of our problems

To be blunt -- and yeah, the horse is getting beaten again -- I would never have believed we'd still be seeing 2-in-26 droughts from Schenn, four years into this poop

Yeah, you have to be patient, and it sucks that it's on them, but you know what? It is on them. The Flyers need more out of the young players on this roster, and they need it fast, before Hextall starts tearing into this thing and we wind up on a 4-6 year timeline instead of 2-4

I'd deal him at next year's deadline. He should have another very good year seeing top PP time. If he posts a similar year it's a 1st + for sure

If push came to shove, and I liked a kid in the draft...I'd probably do him for a first

Schultz and Grossmann are still here, for veteran presence

Yeah, but just the other day he said he hadn't made up his mind about Berube. GM's never tell the truth.

hats off too streit. i laughed at the vinny deal, and thought the streit one wasnt much better, but all things considered he has been pretty fantastic.

but yeah the issue with schenn gets back to my last post. the flyers obviously have the top line settled with g and jake. net is settled. the plan is to wait for the young d. thats been debated, but okay we will use it. i think the fourth line is going to be quality once the dead wood is eventually handled. white and peb are very solid fourth liners on a cup winning team. it all comes down to the middle 2 lines, and how they decide to play it.

not to beat the same horse you are, but it revolves around schenn and coots. if schenn is kept, where does he slot?

and is coots going to be a second line center with reduced matchup duty, or is it determined that theyre just going to let him lock in at 3C and be a shutdown guy. until they answer these questions, its hard to know what type of outside help to target.

If they dealt Streit, I think they'd really be going into an obvious rebuild. I don't think they want to do that. I guess they just dont like the idea of being a bottom 10 team for a couple years while they build up a strong farm system

The tough thing is that we're four years past the Richards and Carter deals -- and both of those players have yet to become the answers the Flyers need them to be
