You said "over the past few years" so I assumed you were talking regular season since you've only played him once in the playoffs previously. - jmatchett383
Actually, Crosby and Malkin played the Rangers in a series in 2008 that didn't end well for the Rangers.
Not that its relevant to the topic at hand, other than its a pleasant memory. Game 1 of that series was one of the most entertaining playoff games I've ever attended.
Well, like I said, maybe to the eye based on the who looks better when they have the puck. But until he actual produces it I will say they are the same. I do think that Perron have 9 NHL seasons of experience and Stepan having 5 is still important. There are plenty of players who play on bad teams that if they are good goal scorers they can still produce. Stepan may have played only for the Rangers but his production is consistent no matter if he plays in a low scoring shot blocking Tortorella system or a high flying offensive AV system. Stepan is a 70pt player by average who can probably become an 80pt. player. - xcheckmajor
That's great, but your missing my point. Stepan should outscore Perron points wise, because he is a better playermaker and better all around player. That doesn't change the fact that Perron is a better goal scorer.
Where's that one guy from last year that bragged about his team shutting Crosby down, after Crosby had two or three points? - Topshelf Mountain
Not sure. If it was me, it was sarcastic.
That annoys the hell out of me at Flyers games. After he's put up 2G/2A against us and we're losing 6-1, there's some guy(s) who will scream, "CROSBY SUCKS!" Not really, dude.

Hes probably referring to Crosby sucking something else other than at hockey....

I was at that game. Don't think i had a voice after that...
NY is clearly the better team: better depth, goaltending, coaching, etc.
Penguins have the 2 game breakers in Malkin and Crosby. Both of these guys will need to show up and in a big way.
I'm interested to see Hornqvist play in the playoffs. I feel like he could be a game breaker.
It probably comes down to MAF. If MAF can play lights out like he has in the past few weeks, we have a chance. If he is average and gets outplayed by Henrik, we can end this quickly.
I think people write off the Penguins a lot more than they should. While we havent been great, I think we are capable of handling ourselves.
It's too bad our teams arent healthy. that would be a really good series.

Hornqvist is like a Kreider lite. Should be interesting to see how he performs indeed.

Not just you, but I've seen a few people mention wanting to see how Hornqvist does in the playoffs. You guys do realize he has 24 games of playoff experience, right?

I'm nver confident enough in the Rangers to say it's a cakewalk. Learned to many lessons that way

Keeping it civil works for me. As much as we love, our respective teams, there's no need to get out of line with each other.

No it wasn't you. Someone from another team that wouldn't let go of it; lasted a few days too!
It is nice being the underdog again. Maybe that'll put some life into the arena for once for game three. I miss the excitement of not expecting championships.

I agree on every level that Perron is the better one on one player. But I keep arguing with myself when I wanna say that I would rather have Perron shooting than Stepan. I've seen Stepan more that Perron thats a fact, but Stepan has a great shot, when he uses it. Stepan is really good on the break away. But they are different. Perron is probably better at sniping and probably better at deking a goalie out, but Stepan is just better at decision making and evaluating. Perron is the type of guy that will use a great toe drag and top shelf shot across the grain to score. Stepan will use a fake shot, one move and score between the legs. One guy is flashy and the other will be more heady. They are just different but both have had similar success scoring at about 1 goal every 4 games played.
That's 24 bp so we didn't know nor care - dbell646
haha, fair enough. He did play those games for a very conservative Nashville team. Just saying, it's not like he's been stuck on Atlanta/Winnipeg his whole career.

Perron will be big too. His intensity and physicality needs to be there.

Yea I think that's good for them too. Scares me actually more then anything about this series
