Islanders, wow. Epic Washington choke in the playoffs again? I can honestly see them getting swept. We'll see.

I think it'll go the distance but i think Strome and Nelson will give the isles that extra edge.

I don't what to think of him. The sharks "community" sounds fairly split to the extreme. It seems like you either hate him or think he deserves better.

Im surprised Paul Maclean's name hasn't come up more often given the ottawa connection.

Regarding former Sabres...how in the world could you possibly forget about the 50th overall pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft???

Not sure if we need him but I would welcome him back if we needed to fill a space. Another player Darcy saw no value in that seemed to do just fine everywhere else.
Luckily, we got Joe Juneau that one time for that one playoff run nobody remembers.

You mean that Stanley Cup run of 99'?

Yep no idea what you're talking about.

thx...understood...always like him as a player, just was put in a role that was higher than he should've been while in buffalo
- Michael Pachla

if Darcy did not give him that big contract, at the time, his expectations would have been lower

he was a fringe 3rd line player that over achieved and got paid fringe second line money

then given away

nice move darcy

I think he's a good coach
IMO, the Sharks playoff failures are due to the roster
1) no true "shutdown" defensive pair
2) no good "defensive specialist" at center, forcing Thornton into that role & taking away from his offense
3) lack of physicality & grit

They have a collection of good players, which is why they tend to still do well in the Reg season, but they haven't built much of a "team" IMO
The 06-07 Sabres reminded me of the typical Sarks team a lot.

How would u feel about McClellan as our next coach?
I'd be ok with it

Also, I don't understand the hate on Bylsma?
Developed multiple young talent, incl Crosby (McDavid)... Got to a Cup & even won one... And would've had more playoff success if Fleury didn't melt down every year

Daniel Paille?

Ya right. Only one on Boston I'm interested in is Malcolm Subban.

I agree. The top 5 coaches id like in order of preference are

1. Babcock - if I was Pegula i would offer this guy $5-10 mill
2. McClennan - damn good coach. Getting a sour deal in San Jose with the players and GM having big heads.
3. Boucher - good coach. Hasn't got a chance since he got fired
4. Richardson - if he can develop our players like he has the Sens players then I'm all for it.
5. Bylsma - good coach. Underrated.

There's like 5 or so other good coaches out there as well
I think what it's gonna come down to is who has a similar vision as Murray, & how well the two can work together.
For whatever reason,
There seemed to be little collaboration between Murray & Nolan.
I know Murray said that's how he does things, but that's not gonna cut it if u bring in one of these big names. So Murray is gonna have to adjust his stance somewhat.

I wouldn't hate it
Always thought the "hate" was way too strong for him while he was here.
He struggled with consistency, but I feel like he got better every year.
I feel the same way about Weber, although he was horrible last season.
If we do bring in a defenseman, I think Zadorov could likely go down to Rochester.
I wouldn't be surprised if we brought back Strachan as a depth defenseman

- jdfitz77

I have always been pessimistic about Weber but I think he played his best hockey this past year especially the 2nd half of the season. I like him as a 5/6.

I'm in the minority but I don't want Sekera back here. He carried a bigger purse than Jordan Leopold.

Not all of your D need to be big bruisers. Sekera would help the power play quite a bit I would think. He has sick trade value after all.

Sorry I'm a little late to the party.... I agree with you on Paille. I liked him as a player back when we had him, now I think I'll pass on him as well.

Apparently I am in the minority, but I didn't think the Subban slash was that bad. No reason it should have been a 5 and game.

Stone should have gotten an embellishment penalty.
