I'm still not sure how you knobs figured you're the Champs....maybe in some crappy regional promotion, cuz Iggy and I are the true, undisputed tag team champions of the world.

4.25 for 7 years? I'd actually be ok with Klefbom being locked up for that but I'd still prefer a bridge deal.

I just look at how our defense have developed. Anyone that is fully confident in Klefbom having no issues hasn't watched hockey long enough.

Sophmore year and now the book is out on the kid. Look at how Marincin struggled this year.

At the very least wait a few months into the year. Who cares if it cost you 500k more a year. Would you rather that or find out he takes a step back like everyone else and is worth only a mil.

Its a gamble tough...68 games to give a guy that kind of deal.
Thats the equivalent of giving J.Schultz that sort of contract just based on his lock out shorted season of 27 pts in 48 games.

I'm just thinking a few years ahead, with the way contracts are going up Klefbom could very well be worth 5.5 in 2 seasons. Maybe more but I would still rather the bridge deal.

Personally I would never do it but if there was one player I would be comfortable giving it to it would be Klefbom.

Yeah no reason to rush a longterm deal. If he earns more in that time great.

Its probably a safe bet, but in such a cap world...if he doesnt pan out to the Top 4 guy, thats such an anchor of a contract.

I wouldnt feel too comfortable giving out a contract of that length to a dman who hasnt played 2 full seasons yet.

still wouldnt do it, its foolish to give out contracts like that. Let them establish themselves in consecutive seasons before locking them up for that sort of term.

4.25m vs 5.5m for a Top 4 Dman isnt going to break your team. But trying to save a 1m in cap space on a gamble...thats how gms get fired

Who was also deemed a future Norris d-man by our current management.

If we can look him in at 4mil for 4 years, I'd be okay with that. But 7 or 8? I rather let the GF bite my cock during a hummer.

7 more years of those?

Seriously though I would not sign anybody for longer than 5 years, especially a kid.

A 4 year deal is probably the right call, something like Gardiner signed in TO. If he starts to slide in his development, have injury riddled seasons, etc, its not the worst contract to absorb...anything over 5 years becomes a nightmare if it doesnt pan out
