I will NEVER look at an OTL as anything other than a loss. I dont care if you got a point or not, you lost. - MBFlyerfan
He has not won half of the games he has coached. |

I'd take a look at Steve Spott, honestly. He's been consistent as a head coach in juniors. - jmatchett383
I like Blashill in grand rapids if Babcock goes back to Detroit. Every player that comes up from grand rapids is ready to go from day one it seems.
With the young dmen coming and guys like Schenn and Couturier I would like to seeif he can get more out of them. |

That's giving the shootout way more credit than it deserves. |

So much this. Idk what's so hard to understand about points earned/Total possible points.
And how many shootouts have the flyers won with boob as coach? About 5 if that? Its funny but its not really. |

What is ever best for the Flyers.
If they think a new voice is needed to get more from players like Couturier and Schenn and the young dmen then go for it.
If you think berube has started a good foundation and maybe some roster changes are whats needed then I am fine with that too.
I tend to think they will look for a new coach this offseason. But I also can't say Berube was the fault of this team. There are a more pressing problems then just Berube. - J35Bacher
I think it was kind of a perfect disaster scenario. You had some pieces that could've made a good situation, but you had more pieces that made the scale tip more to the disaster side. I think all around it was just not the right mix for the team- and that being said, what's easier... moving every "wrong" piece, or replacing the coach and removing the major "wrong' pieces. |

Thank you sir! btw, when the hell do you sleep?
All kidding aside, thank you very much for all of your hard work. Your coverage of the Flyers is the best I've seen since Jay Greenberg left the beat!! - BiggE

The team earned more than 50% of its total possible points.
The team has not won (read: lost) more than 50% of its game. |

The sad state of Philly sports right now...
I have a $10 bet with a few of my friends that OV finishes with more goals in the regular season and playoffs then the Phillies will have wins. - opeth_pa
You can kiss that $10 goodbye. |

I'm well aware. The logic behind using an old school approach is severely flawed. Counting a loss in a shootout is kind of beat as does counting a shootout win.
Ultimately points get you into the playoffs. That's all that matters in the regular season. Once you're in you can win it all. If the flyers go 20-0-60 next year and win the cup, are we gonna sit here complaining that their win percentage was .250 in the regular season? |

this is why i think hextall might consider bringing him back He has coached 2 seasons.
He is 50/50.
1 playoff season
1 missed playoff season.
Can we accurately say how good Berube is as a coach after 2 seasons?
Myself I can't make that judgment off 2 seasons. - J35Bacher

So glad the playoffs are starting. I love the first round of the NBA/NHL playoffs. Always multiple good games on every night |

Perfect scenario:
-Flyers keep Berube (cringe)
-After no trade can be worked out with Vinny, team/player mutually terminate contract after his $2M bonus in July
-Berube not given contract extension after 2015-2016
-Tippett hired after he's given one more year in Arizona
In all seriousness, Vinny stated in the interview that he's definitely not retiring but essentially will not play for Berube. Of course Vinny & his agent would not disclose tearing up a contract as an option but if the Flyers do decide to keep Berube for another year, for whatever reason, what's his option if he truly will not play for Berube?
IMO, I do think Berube will be fired today but I've been playing the possible scenarios in my head the past few days wondering if it could come to this.
Hypothetically, if keeping Berube one more season meant the Flyers would be free and clear of the Vinny contract, I could possibly tolerate one more year with him behind the bench. |

Maybe the Jeff Reese thing had nothing to do with Berube, and was an issue between Reese and Hextall? - MJL
Perhaps.
I was using that example more to back up my point that nothing will surprise me today. |
