Now keep in mind that I'm aware the the GM and Coach are no longer players but Holmgren once calmed that he wouldn't trade Carter and Umberger and had every intention of re-signing the two young players but ended up trading Umberger. Earlier this season Berube claimed that he had no issue with Scott Hartnell and that they were still friends, which also turned out to not be the case less then 24 hours later.

I don't think he claimed that he would never trade Carter, and I assume you mean Richards.
Two sides to every situation. Berube may have felt that he had no issue with Hartnell, and felt that they were still freinds. Hartnell may have felt differenly.
