Yep -- that is exactly my fear, because if Hextall doesn't think there are a ton of moves he can make and he doesn't want to deal draft picks, this roster is gonna look similar next year and they finished 14 points out

I like a lot of coaches, but 14 points is no joke to make up if you are not willing or able to make a few moves and actually might try to work in a young defender

Furthermore, they won't have to pay him for doing nothing next year. His job will be "designated fall guy" until the coach that Hextall wants becomes available.

perhaps ... but if Berube was staying they might have deliberately leaked it to dampen the negative reaction from a lot of fans.

If Berube is retained then you can consider this the Matthews tank 2015-16. Expect a few trades at the draft. No significant UFA deals. A lot of the same on D and no jobs to be won by the young guys in camp.

Enjoy watching the coach continue to retard the young guys development. Good for Ryan White when he gets first team PP minutes all season.
