So I don't watch NCAA hockey at all.. So all I have really seen of eichel is clips or a few scouting reports. Now I'm wondering is he a guy that has 50 to 60 goal talent ? Or will he be like a 30 to 40 goal guy?
- Therat36

in looking at the center position since 2007, a 30-40 goal guy is very appealing...

especially if Girgensons, who was on a 20g/20a pace, can get into that 50 pt. range as #2 center

Eks thread is getting better and better...

"The next biggest player deserves to be in the biggest market where he'll be appreciated by the highest amount of people. If you disagree with this, you're a leafs hater plain and simple.

No team has been mismanaged like ours. No fans have suffered like ours. And the NHL definitely owes it to the leafs after constantly shafting us."

Buffalo and Arizona traded their whole teams. That is intentional tanking. Toronto kept their stars.

I didn't realize trading away ufa goalies and 3rd liners classified as "whole team"

The Sabres have a 20% chance the other 13 teams have an 80% as a field.

Its like the old Tiger vs the Field

Sabres vs the Field...the Field have better odds

You are really hung up on this huh?

When did anyone ever say the sabres weren't going to get the first pic? It's just odds...20% vs 80% are not good odds.

You were the one in your first post that made the definitive statement "we get him". Not looking good.

I don't see how we can be arguing amongst ourselves about this. I mean worst case scenario we're getting Eichel. Is that not good enough?! All this negative energy shoulda been gone when the season ended.

Or, I am trying to be optimistic that we will win the lottery with the best chance, unlike yourself.

Pretty much. Eichel is nothing to complain about though, even if we "lose."
So I assume people are arguing over odds and are "sure" we're not going to get first overall because there's nothing else to talk about.

Be as optimistic as you would like, the odds are still that the "field" gets the top pick. I am stating facts and probabilities, it has nothing to do with being optimistic or pessimistic.

That being said I could care less if we get McDavid o Eichel, the purpose of the season was achieved and we will be guaranteed one of the top two in this draft.

On to another topic. Does anyone else think next season hinges on who the sabres bring in to start in goal and how that guy performs? If we have a mediocre goalie, I can still see this team being bottom 5. I think its going to be 3 years until we finally make some noise.

We still have Arturs Irbe who can turn an ordinary pile of crap with goalie pads into the next Hasek.

I'm not quik to say he is all that. Our goalies didn't do that great. Wins/losses is what gets noticed. Goalie stats get noticed 5 years from now, GAA/SV% only to be brought up by Hockey buzz posters.

Its more of Buffalo has the best chance to draft him, so I should feel good about their odds. But apparently cannot because it is "stupid logic"
