can he come to camp without having a contract? because once he signs his contract he can't go back to college (at least that is what i thought).
- IndianaSabresFan

Reinhart signed his contract and went back down, but that was a team decision. I don't know if the team will sign off on him going to college... it could be interesting. I don't think that he will be put in the AHL, but that's just me.

Reinhart wasn't ready plus it was obvious the team was going to be really bad. Eichel is in a different league than Reinhart talent wise. Its either he is in Buffalo or stays in school. My guess if there is any indication that the Sabres would want to send him to Rochester he doesn't sign his ELC.

Hopefully this conversation doesn't matter and we get McDavid!

Eichel to college has a 0.0% chance of happening, IMO. Also I'm still in the mindset we get McDavid. We are currently in 30th and have the best shot at him, so we get him.
- ImThatGuy

That horrible logic. We have a 20% chance at getting him and an 80% chance of another team getting him. Not good odds, so assume we don't get him.

Eichel it is.

So I don't watch NCAA hockey at all.. So all I have really seen of eichel is clips or a few scouting reports. Now I'm wondering is he a guy that has 50 to 60 goal talent ? Or will he be like a 30 to 40 goal guy?

reinhart wasn't in college.. it is more of a question in regards to the NCAA rules on compensation for their athletes not an NHL question

30-40 goals 40-50 assists So he can be a 90 point player if the NHL you know starts calling penalties again.

He is everything you want in a franchise center speed, skill, smarts, good in his own zone.

Eichel will be at rookie and the prospect camp but he can't be at training camp unless he signs his ELC.

I'm sorry but by that logic, every team says the same and nobody gets him. Somebody has to, why not us?

We have the best chance out of everybody, so it's alright for some to dream, I know I have at times haha

I like when the media references the dead puck era. Decades from now people will look back and wonder how we ever watched this

Who is gona get McDavid?
By horrible logic You mean :
Arizona has an 86% not to get him, they wont
Edmonton has a 89% to not get him, they wont
Leafs 91% chance to not get him, they wont
Hurricanes 92% to not get him, they wont
.
.
.
.
.
Bruins. 99% chance to not get him, so they wont.

WHO GETS HIM THEN, NOBODY?!?!?

Correct.

Once he signs, college becomes no longer an option as far as an athlete is concerned.

(unless he wants to repay the money he earned)

You guys are missing a great time in Ek's thread. Here is a small sample:

"Toronto supports this entire league it's about time we got rewarded for it. We get (frank)ed with the salary cap, revenue sharing etc etc. Enough is enough"

The Sabres have a 20% chance the other 13 teams have an 80% as a field.

Its like the old Tiger vs the Field

Sabres vs the Field...the Field have better odds

We should trade it then for Arizonas pick, sine its already a given Buffalo wont win it.

That still only gives us a 35% chance of winning.

I would love a way to get both McDavid and Eichel but it will never happen. It would take Reinhart, Girgensons, the other 2015 1st and a 2016 1st and that still might not be enough (that's assuming Buffalo picks 1st and Arizona 2nd)

Hi Michael,

I don't post too often but I enjoy your blogs. They always contain more information and objective opinion than I find in traditional media. As someone who can't see the games live and only watches the highlights when it's not too depressing, I feel I still have a pretty good feel about the team because of your blogs.
Of course, it's good to glean various opinions on the team from some of those who post frequently.

I always look forward to the next one.

Now bring on the draft lottery.
