Really, that doesn't bother me so much. What bothers me is that he matched that horrid offer sheet in the first place. I can't say we would be in great shape now with all those 1st round picks, or that Vanek for sure wouldn't have led Edmonton from the bottom dwellings but Imagine this team now with RNH, Hall and Yakupov. And a lottery pick this year.
- DynamicThreads

They real issue is we wouldn't have a lottery pick this year and one could argue that Vanek would keep the Oilers from being basement dwellers. They would be mediocre just like the Sabres the last 5 years.

Tyler Myers is gone man get over it.

But in all serious, you make a great point with the above bolded statement.

- DynamicThreads

I don't even mean the Kane trade to be honest. I'm talking more down the road when we start having some success. There are certain guys you just don't trade. Seguin was one of them.

It would have been like Chicago moving Kane after their 1st cup because he was still partying too much. Granted Kane was better but you know what I mean

McEichel and Reinhart approve of this statement
- Stripes77

I guess the question is, would you prefer Eichel and Reinhart and a lottery pick this year (assuming we miss the playoffs after an "epic march to 9th place") to Hall, RNH, Yakupov and a lottery pick this year? Idk. I like where we are now so its m00t.

I get you. You're absolutely right about it. Though I'd argue the difference between Kane and Seguin at this point isn't much. One just happens to play for Lindy Ruff's bubble brigade.

if you have responsibilities that day and cant get drunk in them, I agree.
or, if im flying home from a good vacation.
that's why they need to invent teleporters. Nothing sucks worse than spending the last hours of a vacation on a plane and in airports.

I prefer Eichel and Reinhart. Part of the Oilers issue (besides goaltending and D) is they don't have a true #1 center

On the one hand, it was a work trip. On the other, it's a 1.25 hour flight followed by a car ride... So no fun for Bonzo in JFKs Terminal 2.

The frustration of airports and flights is understandable, but for some reason any time I fly and I see people doing it for business, I get an itch for wanting to have that type of job.

I almost never fly anywhere anymore - when I go home to Buffalo I've driven lately because I hate not having the freedom of a car, and flying +renting a car costs so much more than driving.

I'll never forgive that caveman for his hit on Miller...

...and the carebears are gonna want a king's ransom for him

- feetontheair22

Miller was the player that should have received a suspension

Heading back. 2-day conference in NY, tired as hell. Sales people buying drinks... No sleep.

The hotels are nice, and I have a lot of card/flight/hotel points. But there's also the whole flying thing, and having to be constantly "on" for days at a time. Net-net it's more of a bummer IMO.

That said, occasionally they pay me to go back to California, and I get to see friends and ride around the city and Marin, and generally get up to no good in someone else's dime.

Gah...I missed one little word and got completely screwed up. Missing the word "respectively" is kind of a huge deal...

I'm sure I'd hate it quickly, but the bliss of just being away/alone is always welcome.

Could also make the case that had they added vanek instead of penner they see a little more success

The return may not have been those 1st picks. Paajarvi, Gudbranson, Larsson sounds less appealing.

Also disagree with bolded, Nuge is definitely a number 1

I'm taking the Rags over the Ducks in the final.

I'm taking Minny to upset the Blues in the 1st round.
I'm taking the Sen's to upset the Hab's in the 1st round.

I've got two sleepers that could go all the way. Minny and Washington.

I don't get to do it often but I enjoy the "business" flights.
I've been doing most of my flying for personal reasons lately.
Usually to NY and back or a music festival.

I have this as well.

I have the Blues over the Wild but the Sens over the Habs as well. I also have the Caps beating the Islanders.

I think the Isle's are the weakest team in the tourney, neck and neck with Winny.

I think Washington will steamroll them. I just don't think they're ready.

I have the Ducks over the Rangers in the final. I think Anaheim needs to figure out their goaltending and they will be set. Winnipeg will be tough, but if their goaltending is average, they should get by. Chicago is the team I worry about most for them.

NYR's speed is detrimental, but in the two games they played I think they saw what that speed can do to them and will shore up, especially going through Winnipeg (Wheeler), Calgary (Gadreau), and Chicago (Kane).

I think who ever wins the Washington/NYR series will be the Eastern Conference rep.

Sens-Habs seems to be the equivalent of picking a 12 over a 5 in the NCAA basketball tournament. The downside to that is that none of the 12s won this year.

Sounds like Anaheim is gonna keep both for next year and then make a decision after that
Makes sense they'd go about it like that unless someone blows them away with an offer
