Can't say I know anything really about WPGs roster to know, but if Eichel is what he's being built up as, there's no way he's played with anyone that good as his C

That's what I am thinking also. I can't name their centers, outside of Schiefle (or however you spell it) and Perrault. They are not "generational" talents, by any stretch.

I like that Eichel is like a Getzlaf type player. Big bodied, hits, and will likely stick up for his teammates. I know McDavid had the fight where he broke his hand, but I don't see him as a physical presence. As much as I want McDavid for his talent, I think Eichel is a great player to build around.

I also think Kane on his line will add that physical presence and protection while he gets his bearings. I think you have to throw the kid in right away and see what he can do with the big boys.

if eichel can stand up for himself... why not put reinhart with Kane so Kane can stand up for him? just a question i will hang up and listen

Great point also. I didn't think of that.

In this scenario, I think your top two lines would be playing equal type minutes and depending on where the faceoff is, depends on who is out there.

If the Sabres don't win the lottery, hopefully it's a team from the West.
- buffalofan19

I am hoping if Buffalo doesn't win it, AZ does. I believe Vegas will be getting a team, and they will be in the same division as AZ, so I would get to see McDavid a couple times a year.

Ideally in world Buffalo wins it, we get McDavid, and AZ gets Eichel, and I get to watch both closely

Bryan Little is really good.
Scheifle (sp) is an emerging talent as well

I have no doubt Kane will return to scoring 30 goals pretty soon. I also have little doubt that Eichel would make most decent wingers a lot better. Kane being worth the package we gave up is what the question is

I'm thinking Arizona wins it next year. They are basically where the Sabres were last year. Plus they have that kid from AZ who is supposed to be a stud in that draft...

Yeah, my money is on that happening with Matthews. I really think Toronto gets McDavid because until the lottery is done live I'll never believe Bettman has a hand in it. The McDavid Eichel rivalry will go on for the next 10 years and promote the game in a huge way. Just look how the NHL marketed Ovechkin/Crosby. The NHL can only do that the right way if McDavid is in Buffalo's division since they're guaranteed at least Eichel. Toronto has officially started their rebuild, McDavid would be huge for that. McDavid is from Toronto. The Buffalo/Toronto rivalry is already a good one, add in McDavid and Eichel and it becomes must see TV. All signs point to Toronto winning the lottery.

Was talking with my buddy last night how I think Tor will win it cause the NHL wants nothing mroe than a star in Toronto to be on the national broadcast. Outdoor game every year and so on and so on.

We're in the same boat, in the NHL for over 40 years, and not one cup yet. It ain't easy. And dynasty's are a thing of the past. Chicago and LA are close, but look at LA, they didn't even make it in this year. The last true dynasty's were the Canadiens, Islanders and Oilers in the late 70"s and 80's.

Personally, I don't think we will be a dynasty. I think we will be contenders consistently though. I don't want the constant race for 8th like we had years ago. I want to be a team that is fighting for more than that every year. I think we are on that path.

I think Toronto wins it. I've felt this way since mid season. If not them Arizona.

I'm with Sabres-365 - I think someone 4-6th worst will be the winner which happens to be TOR, CAR and NJ....ugh....as long as it's not someone in the Atlantic I'm fine...

Well, another NHL season has come to a close for our Buffalo Sabres and I will miss hockey by our boys for a few months while I try to make life easier and more enjoyable for those out in the real world in many different ways.

With that said, I hope all of y'all have a safe and enjoyable summer with you and your families as well.
If I met you out I wouldn't mind sitting and talking hockey with any of y'all and having a few "how do you do's".

Please just do me a favor, while driving through posted work zones please be sure to follow the posted mph while driving through, it is much appreciated not only by me but by all the other Mommy's and Daddy's that work in any work zone.

See y'all when I see ya so just be safe so we can dig into one another again when a new hockey season begins once again for our boys in blue and gold.

don't worry, if we don't win the lottery next week will be about how the lottery is still rigged by some highly improbable means.

followed by pitt with sidney and falling apart... the league just wanted {insert winning} to win because either a. their franchise was falling apart and they can't fail there or b. that franchise is a staple in the nhl and they need a star name on their roster for ratings

Sabres trade Myers and now he's a "burgeoning superstar" ???
That's a Garth-like exaggeration but its cool since your blogs are typically top notch.
Raw or un-raw...Nolan had to go...everyone knew it...the new coach should be better. I'm liking Murray's approach so far...keep it up Timmy.

- siket71

He already was a superstar in the making. I always said trading him would make the Sabres look like they missed out on sculpting him into the player we all knew he could be. I feel like we got a great return for him, but I have a feeling he's going to be real good in the coming years.
