Honestly this is what is going to happen which is why I stay out of it.
Either Ottawa or Montreal will win which will result in the majority of the winning fan base all of a sudden becoming obnoxious morons with a sense of entitlement.

First of all, I never said 'domination'. Second, it's 6 pts, with two games in hand. Sens win one of those and it's 8pts.

I also wasn't discrediting Montreal's full season.

I originally made a point that the Habs were barely over .500 since the all star break, which is true at 20-16. I also said the Sens were on fire going into the playoffs and that's also true.

I'm not one of those Sens fans who think the Sens will come out and dominate this series. I just think they are the hotter of the two teams and things are 'clicking' right now. That's why I have them as the favourite.

I think I'm being pretty reasonable.

Perhaps I read a comment that mentioned domination and thought it was your comment. No worries. I think it has the make up to be a low scoring goalie duel. The only reason I'm sticking my nose in on these blogs is just because of the overwhelming support of the sens over the Habs by the media. Just seems that 2nd in the league with top goalie, top D men, and top level 2 way forwards doesn't mean anything but a goalie who's best record ever is currently right now and is on a completely unrealistic pace (stats wise, when compared to his career history) and a extremely hot rookie (Stone, guys playing awesome btw) means more. Just confusing. I'm not making any prediction because it makes no difference at all.

The key for all the playoff teams is goaltending and team defence. The teams that do this the best will advance. It's unfortunate we have to see 2 series where one of our Canadian teams have to go, but at least it gives us some great (I hope) entertainment this spring and the Cup finally makes its way back across the U.S. Border.

Fair enough. To me, this series is a coin toss.

I hate to say it, but it all depends on this break and if it kills the Sens momentum. During the crazy two month stretch, the Sens never had more than a 2 day break between games. They also had their back against the wall the entire time, so now that they can lose 3 games and still win the series, their mentality may change for the worse.

If Ottawa comes out playing the same way they did to finish the season, they will be extremely difficult to beat... and it's not just the Habs. If the Sens play the same way they did to finish the season, I can see them beating any team in the East, except a fully healthy Rangers.

That said, what are the odds that they can continue playing the same way? Who knows.

im a die hard sens fans...and ive been telling people to respect the habs

that said, patch out and leaning a lot on price isn't a good sign. But price could steal any series.........by no means do I want to see a fellow canadian team go out in the first round - so I hope it's a good 1st round and I have no predictions - watching the Sens last 2 months, that word is useless anyways lol....

Agreed. That's why it's surprising to me how fast these predictions came out trumpeting the Sens when it really does look like a toss up due to the run the sens went on and the rookie goalie/forward putting the team on their backs and running. There's manny question marks for both teams.

First of all, you neglect to mention the fact that Ottawa has beat Montreal 3/4 times this year, plus twice in the pre-season- which probably doesn't hold any weight.

Second of all, they made pretty quick work out of Carey Price in 2013 when all of the experts said the same things you are now about Carey Price. I'll give you the fact that he's had a fantastic year, but they have some confidence knowing that they've done it before.

- Jordo

Habs had Gallagher and Galchenyuk as rookies. Gorges and bouillon, tinordi all in d lineup. The d-lineup has improved greatly.

Eller played what 8 mins? Gionta 2 games? Your Sens aren't facing the same team at all. And that goes for the Sens, they are a different team.

Price has improved big time since 2013, right around the time they brough Waite in to coach.

Third- Montreal, outside of Carey Price, is not a very good team. This is especially true when they take away their bonafide goal scorer in Pacioretty. They have the lowest goal totals of any team in the playoffs.

Yup you got us...Habs have 7 players with 40 plus points and 4 20 goal scorers.

Also all around, Subban > Karlsson

Fourth- a lot of the guys you mentioned having "no playoff experience" were a part of the 2013 team that beat the Habs- especially Pageau who had a hat trick in one of the games.

Pageau seems to be a hab-killer. I think this will be a hell of a series. But EK is right, no respect for this edition of the Habs.

I have a prediction: Chiasson will step up for the Sens.

i love the argument that Montreal isn't a good team outside of Price. it's like saying the rapist isn't so bad a guy if you look beyond the fact that he rapes women.

I say the following even though I am a lifelong Habs fan: I honestly don't see how Montreal wins this series. It's unfortunate, but the two teams in the conference which cause Montreal the most problems are both in their division (Tampa and Ottawa). The Sens are just not a good match-up for the Habs, as they tend to push the Canadiens around, and there is also that matter of how red-hot they are right now. It wouldn't shock me at all if we see a repeat of 2013. There is a reason why so many pundits are picking Ottawa--they see the same facts that I do.

The chiasson prediction is a bold one. He's been largely meh for the Sens. Had a few isolated moments, but there's a reason he's so low on the depth chart.

He is big, relatively mobile skater, and playing in Quebec. Just a hunch.
