Lol. So to him OTT was dominant, but a team that had 3 less points of the same span is barely .500.

Dat logic there! No respek!

- SmielmaN

12 games over .500 sure beats 4 games over .500, wouldn't you say? The only reason they were close in points is because Montreal played two more games and they had a bunch of loser points.

No loser points in the playoffs.

i'm loving how you guys are all playing the underdog card while picking the Sens, without realizing how ridiculous you all sound.
- DoubleDown

Is fan perception a good indicator of who the underdog actually is though?

you make a lot of good points. Ottawa is a juggernaut that the NHL hasn't seen in about 30 years. the only thing that gives Montreal a chance (barely one at that) is the referring, which is bound to be in their favour, as always

Not sure what you're getting at.

You confusing me with other people? I never said anything about the refs. I also didn't say Ottawa was a juggernaut.

I said Ottawa was hot and Montreal was average for the last two months of the season. For that reason, I think Ottawa should be favoured in this series.

Hi Eklund. I joined your site today, thanks for the article. I agreed to the points as i also felt montreal has been a much more consistent and relaxed team having less pressures and ups and downs with lots of play off experience.

What will be your series to watch for the East Rd1?

23-11 or 20-16.

Three win difference, and a 5 loss difference with two games less played by the Sens since the all star break.

23-11 is a bit better than 20-16. 20-16 is .5555 hockey. Pretty close to .500.
Sens were .676 so there's a difference there. Habs just had mor OT loses to make the points closer

- kessellover69

Ya but they didn't have to go 20-1 or whatever to accomplish that. In fact these stats use Montreal's only subpar month (March) as a measure to discredit the solid play throughout the season, but then with the other hand praise the Sens for having ridiculous >2 month run.

Also I can say with certainty that the Canadiens took the foot of the gas when they hit 90 point mark. This team looked like they didn't want to limp into the postseason and laid back. They came out hard and took leads only to sit back and pay the price in terms of losses in March. If the Habs come out flat in the playoffs then they learn a lesson about intensity. But to say domination in relation to the sens record and blast the Canadiens which was 3 pts less and during their worst stretch of the season is just not logical.

I think the sens just have to show up at the bell centre and the Habs will have to concede victory. Then the NHL will have to concede the cup also as there is no greater team than the hamburgler with stone and EK. It will be the last cup ever awarded as no team will ever compare to the pesky sens ever again. Will have to make up a new trophy for the playoffs.

I'm obviously having a bit of fun with you guys so don't take it too seriously

Let's get this right...

Since the all star break
Ottawa = 23-7-4 -> .735
Montreal = 20-9-7 -> .653

First of all, I never said 'domination'. Second, it's 6 pts, with two games in hand. Sens win one of those and it's 8pts.

I also wasn't discrediting Montreal's full season.

I originally made a point that the Habs were barely over .500 since the all star break, which is true at 20-16. I also said the Sens were on fire going into the playoffs and that's also true.

I'm not one of those Sens fans who think the Sens will come out and dominate this series. I just think they are the hotter of the two teams and things are 'clicking' right now. That's why I have them as the favourite.

I think I'm being pretty reasonable.

Seems like one good and one great...

Now let's compare that with the Kings or B's. I think they would have love to finish the season playing .600....
