honestly, i'd rather keep vinny.

I'm just enamored w/the idea of getting rid of 1 of the 3 god awful contracts the flyers are currently carrying.

So the Flyers even tweeted the following from Vinny:

"I like this team. I like the players. But for my future I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens."

Why would they tweet this if there is nothing happening? Seems like either they are going to mutually terminate. If I were Hexy, I'd hang on to Berube just to force this to happen.

- pbizz1e

There is no reason for Vinny to accept a mutual termination. He can simply tell Flyers to buy him out if they can't trade him.

Why would the union not be cool with this? Also, didn't their reps allow for this to happen when they signed the CBA?
- jmatchett383

I would think Hextall would explain to Vinny that NO ONE wants him.....Not even for half the cap space. Flyers have no problem letting his contract sit another season, Vinny can sit just like this season. His choice

I say go for it next time. But do it Emery style, just charge down the ice out of seemingly nowhere and just have at him.
- jmatchett383

i would love that, but i'm not getting suspended by usa hockey over that Richardbag.

That's kinda what I was saying in other posts. I wouldn't just walk away if I were him.

i get that...i'd rather dump umberger i think. i know he's a more versatile player on paper. if he were healthy this year, i might have a different opinion.

I think everyone agrees with him... problem is, who is going to take him, where the Flyers don't have to eat salary?? He's screwing the Flyers, being on the Flyers... and he would screw them if he went somewhere else and they had to eat salary. At this point, the only viable hope is to have the new coach work him in somewhere until he retires next season (we're praying).. Unless a miracle happens and a team needs to hit the cap floor and takes his full contract on..
- WarriorHockey21

It's not VL's fault. Flyers screwed themselves on this one.

And the Flyers can tell him that he can just sit patiently on the scratch list.

Bill, not sure if any reporter has asked this, but Where does Vinny believe he fits in the lineup? Second line center?

I guess. But leaving millions on the table? I mean I'm sure he's made enough at this point, but it would be a very tough family decision to just walk away like that.
- pbizz1e

I'm guessing the PA wouldn't be too happy about him doing it.

Vinny basically says he is better off somewhere else or here if Chief is gone.

- ob18

Then he needs to be ready to waive that NMC at the drop of a hat, because if the Flyers find even one team to take him, he should feel lucky

Still not sure why the players union would start burning crosses on Vinny's lawn and throwing rotten produce at him if he agreed to a mutual termination.

some food for thought will there be a lot of players from the Russian league looking to come over as some uncertainty there I believe. maybe you can fill a hole from that surplus.

The ugly side of this- they might Kovalchuk on us as soon as ruble improves.

Hexy: Vinny, would you be willing to waive your NMC?
Vinny: Sure thing, boss, anything to get out.
Hexy.: Okay just sign here and here...very nice, congrats, enjoy Wheeling, the Nailers can't wait for you to get there.

Yep. He already took a haircut, and he has already played on a bridge deal.

You don't, and shouldn't, give him a bunch of years. But you are gonna need to give him some money - I bet 2 years, 7.5 or 8 total
