Interviews with Hextall up here.

I loved everything Hextall had to say. I think we as fans are on the same page with our GM. I really liked that he wasn't shy about saying what's on his wish list in terms of adding to the current roster and I like that he tipped his hand on what he's looking for in the draft. Sure, go with the best guy but the organization needs a young forward right now.

I thought it was interesting that he brought up character. As far back as I can remember, this has been a character team. Not just funny guys within the media like Jeremy Roenick, Chris Pronger and Scott Hartnell but guys who really show that willingness to step up. I think this team has less character then what we've had in past seasons but Wayne Simmonds and Jake Voracek are absolutely character guys. Ryan White I believe to be one as well. Giroux definitely has character.

i have plenty. but i dole it out judiciously. for example, i saw a clip of the entire OT from the 1974 scf game 2 where clarke scores. so much love for gene hart in that clip. one of the best things about the call, besides his screaming is hearing the rustling of the microphone because he's obviously smashing it about in his excitement. it makes it so much better. it's the little things.

danny markov kissing primeau after he ties game 6 against tampa. the hug. the pure emotion on his face. it's making me tear up right now just thinking about it.

ask my brother, wilsonecho...he's seen it first hand. the love is so much more intense than the hate. it's immeasurable. seriously. which is why, when the flyers finally win another cup i will end up in jail and the hospital in the same night.

I dont disagree with him.

Record against good teams, home record, other reasons.
Lets assume next season that Couturer, Read and Schenn have bounce back years when the games still matter. Lets also assume Giroux has his normal level of shootout success that is some place in 3-5 additional wins which could be the difference.

I 100% agree this team is good enough to be in the playoffs but that is different than being good enough to realistically compete for a cup and that to me needs to be the focus. We tried the "good enough to make the playoffs routine for a long time" ffs i want to see a cup win before i die.

They were good enough to make them. I am honest enough to admit that if they had, they probably would have been out in the first round

If they played the way they did against contenders all year, and they didn't (frank) up so many games in the first month, we might have been writing completely different comments. lol

It was just a bizarre year -- they really needed Schenn, Couturier and Read to do something, anything, offensively early on, and they just never got it

Guys were hurt, or in Couturier's case, playing with guys who were hurt. There were reasons, if people choose to accept them

But they really were counting on production that they just didn't get, unfortunately

That and that (frank)ing PK -- to me, that PK easily cost them 10 points

Nah. Just two dudes.

One sixth round pick. The other, we gave Darryl Sittler to the Wings for.

As much as I agree with everything Hextall said in his interview, he did role over a little bit when he traded Coburn and Timonen. It was the right call but trading away a legit top pair does weaken the team.

We've seen this before with Richards, Carter and Umberger during the last place season. These guys know what they have to do now.

I mean, it is that simple. It's not that they have to carry the team. But they can't score once every 7, 8, 9 games, or go two in 25 or worse

They have to do it when it matters, and it has to be something that the team can count on

They aren't going anywhere until it happens

“@davegisaac: Berube also says that Sean Couturier's zone starts is "creating excuses" for offense not being what he'd hoped.”

This guy is not a good enough coach to be this big an bumhole this early in his coaching career.

you're gdddamn right he was. which is one of the reasons i love my markov jersey so much.

I love mine for Danny and because the number is my birth year, so even if someone asks derisively "Markov?" I can say "birth year!" and they leave me alone.

I really liked that he shed light on the upcoming youth coming through the organization. Long story short, if a young player such as Samuel Morin is ready to play, he'll play. If he isn't, he won't.

Is he or anybody ever going to own the fact that they deployed an injured player on both of his wings, at some point?

Is that just something nobody wants to own?
