Yeah he needs to go.

And I'd honestly test the waters on an Ennis trade at the deadline, but not because I don't like him. I feel like he could be a very good piece on a team that's already playoff bound and it would be nice to get him some success.

- OnPoint

If he could be a very good piece on a playoff team, why not keep him on a team on the rise.

Trading Ennis sets you back, no more of that. Time to move forward.

I don't see trade deadline day being as exciting this year, don't have much more to sell off?

I'm not the biggest Nolan fan ever, but I'm not exactly sure how anyone can say he didn't get shafted here.

Tim Murray made moves, several of them mind you, to make this team worse over the past 2 deadlines and 1 offseason.

He traded 3 good goalies (or goalies playing well) a 24 year old Myers, Stafford, Ott, bought out Christian Ehrhoff, signed over the hill veterans. His biggest acquisition was someone on IR for the season..... I mean come on.

This was the plan, and it worked. Nolan was a goner from the moment he was hired, and it was one of the reasons Buff19, myself and only a few others were against the hire from day 1.

- sbroads24

Which is why there is no great injustice. Murray knew it. Nolan knew it. The players knew it. All the fans should have known it.

What he got was a chance to get his name back into NHL circles and 3.5 years of pay for 1.5 years worth of work.

He was unlikely to get hired as an NHL head coach prior to this latest go around with the Sabres or make that kind of money coaching any where else.

He was well paid for doing a job. Even if that job was dead end with no chance of success. No injustice in that, in my opinion.

Doesn't affect the draft order. I believe its just how they finish in the standings at the end of the year.
- sbroads24

no the next 8 picks will be based on first rd exits

the loser in the finals gets the 29th pick

I think

Lafontaine hired Nolan, Murray extended him. I'm not exactly sure he knew he was walking a plank then.

Even In Murray's presser, they asked if Nolan had got them to 24th or 25th place as opposed to 30th, would he still have a job, and Murray struggled to answer. He was set up to fail, plain and simple. No tear will be shed on my end. However I am very skeptical of Tim Murray. I have a bad feeling he is an egomaniac

Gotta stay away from anything related to Nolan on social media outlets. Jesus some people's blind love for Nolan is ridiculous.

Not I, Murray set this org up for long term success. Murray has been great at drafting. Egomaniac, though I think a bit farfetched, sure great. It's his team, I think he is entitled to be a bit.

Also, lets not pretend the two guys (LaFontaine and Nolan) that are no longer here don't have shady pasts.

I'm in no way wanting Murray fired or anything. Just skeptical right now

I also didn't want Lafontaine or Nolan here.

As far as Murray being great at anything, it remains to be seen. His 2014 draft so far has been underwhelming. Out of our 3 2nd rounders from last year, one was traded and the other two had average at best seasons.

This was also set in motion way before he was hired. He inherited a 30th place team and they remained there. He inherited a ton of picks and prospects as well

Fans are used to "Darcy do nothing" Things are moving too fast for some I guess. The fact that there is moving can be a shock.

"Fourteen balls, numbered 1 to 14, are placed in a lottery machine.

The machine randomly selects four balls. The resulting four-number series (without regard to selection order) is matched against a chart that shows all possible combinations and the clubs to which each is assigned.

The chart of assigned combinations will be posted at www.NHL.com Friday. The complete process, including the video of the lottery drawing, also will be available on NHL.com after the lottery is conducted."

That doesn't sound confusing at all...

I think he got fired for one reason only and that is by not directly working on the same page as Murray. Let's face it. If they lost out on McEichel Murray would have looked like the biggest ass in the league.

I'm actually kind of concerned some have too high of expectations going into next year already.

Baring some massive changes, this team wont be playoff bound or anything close to that, IMO.

I think it was lack of any sort of game plan. What sticks out for me was the time out he called and just sat there looking out over the ice. NBC mentioned it being odd, No diagrams, no pointing to players, no instruction what so ever. "Ted must have them coached very well that they know exactly what to do."

Which was Murray's way of saying "Thanks for putting up with the crab you will have to endure with for the next season."

I agree 100% he was set up to fail. I just think Nolan knew it all along. This time he was smart enough not to let his pride get in the way and got 2 years worth of pay for it.

I'm not too worried about Murray's ego. I think you need to be pretty full of yourself to succeed in that job. The question will be, does he have the talent to match his ego.

We will find that out in the next couple of seasons.

Depends, I'm hoping they aren't. But if Murray goes all out for ROR and and another defensemen we wont be far out.

I think we need to be patient.

Really?

We are about to draft a franchise center something this team hasn't had in 20 years. Briere and Drury don't count.

They traded for a former 30 goal scorer to play with said franchise center who is only 23 years old.

They have the future 2nd line center for the next 10 plus years already in the organization.

They have a beast of a player who is just going to keep getting better and is the future captain of this team who is only 21 years old.

They have 1 potential #1 D in Risto. They have a good 2/3 guy in Bogosian that they just traded for this season they have a potentially good 2/3 guy in Zadorov.

They are going to hire their first real head coach since Lindy was fired and he will probably have a better resume than Ruff (he should anyway).

They have a ton of assets to move around to get another top 6 player.

Next year will be a fun year and the 2016-2017 will be the beginning of something great.

I'd be more than OK keeping him. Hopefully he isn't disillusioned with the organization by this point, though. He's been here for the whole downward spiral and through the tank. I can imagine he might have a poor opinion of the team at this point. He'll be a huge asset if he stays, though.

im guessing this is more of a joke right? Because we will have a Sabres rep at the drawing. along with the other 29 teams reps.
