I know the Bruins have the slimmest chance of winning the lottery, but does anyone believe there is a chance that if they do win it they would take Eichel over McDavid? I understand McDavid is the clear cut first choice, but could they go for the "hometown" kid, leaving us McDavid at #2? Any chance at all?

Michael-

The great irony of this year for those of us who frequent this site is that we had to look so hard for moments to be proud of on the ice. The talent there was very limited, and used sparingly. By contrast, here in these pages, we got a regular - almost daily - dose of really high quality stuff. Well written, informative, and meaningful content time after time after time. A firehose!

Thanks for your efforts, sincerely, and for giving us knuckleheads something to look forward to

San Jose may need to clean house.

They can't really do much with their players BC of all the NTCs they have, so a GM &/or coaching change might be the only significant moves they can make.

If we don't get Babcock, McClellan is a heck of a coach IMO
He's done a nice job developing young talent as well. I know the Satks haven't had the playoff success one would like, but I put that on their GM for the most part. That team has had so much talent, but always seemed to be missing something. Hard to pinpoint exactly, but to me it seemed like they had little GRIT over the years, and never really had a "shutdown" defensive pair, and had to use Thornton against other top forwards which took away from his offense in the playoffs.
Seemed like they always lacked consistent scoring outside Thornton, Marleau & Pavelski as well.

No, absolutely no chance.
Although they might consider trading down to 2 if we make it worth their while. It would likely take a lot though.

The lottery is Saturday at 8:00 pm before the Penguins vs. Rangers game.

Eh... Whatever
With Murray's scouting background it's nice to have those extra picks BC he's prob more likely than most to hit on a late guy, but everyone after the 2nd round is a long shot to ever be more than a depth player in the NHL

I'd trade a 2nd & one of those extra 3rds for a guy like Marchand though

I'm sure it would take a lot to move anyone out of #1. I just thought the Bruins, if anyone, might be interested in Eichel more just because he is a Boston kid. I could see fan pressure to do so, even though it's not in line with conventional wisdom throughout the rest of the league. I'm just really fearful McDavid ends up in Toronto, Carolina, or worse Boston. I can't stand any of those teams.

Sounds like a slow night.

It's gonna feel like forever until June 26 and July 1. I wish Rico would come by and take up some slack.

First, Boston won't win the lotto. If they do, I'll drive to Toronto & kill Bettman myself, haha.
Whoever picks 1st is taking McDavid though, no question.
Even if the Bruins did win, I doubt there's be tht much pressure to take Eichel. McDavid has been touted as the easy top pick in this draft for years, and that hasn't changed. Also, it's baseball season... Most fans are now focussed on the Sox.

Really?
I love the playoffs.
And I don't expect a whole lot from us July 1st anyways.
Could def see some interesting things happen at the draft though.
I'm 90% positive our starting goalie next year will be brought in via trade at some point.

I really like the playoffs too but I'm so pumped to turn the page on this "suffering" that it will be hard to distract myself with other teams.

Sharks GM has been putting his foot in his mouth since last years playoff exit and really hasn't done much to improve the team. If i were to guess, he would be the one to go.

Or Andersen?
Vasilevskiy is really high on my list as well.
Allen from StL is the safest bet of them to be very good, but maybe not "great"
I've always like Bernier too. He's already proven IMO, and at 26 still young enough to for into our rebuild timeline
I do not want Jones. Not that he can't be good, it's just that every LA goalie always looks good & I haven't seen enough of him to be comfortable that he'll be a sure thing #1 goalie

With heads beginning to roll already in Toronto, I think there's going to be a flurry of activity throughout the league, as non-playoff teams start to race toward the available management guys and coaches.

It's gonna feel like forever until Saturday. But it's a stress free wait, we are on a free roll for mceichel. Great times for buffalo fans, so glad we all made it through the darkness!

I could see it go either way
The GM could sell the owner that he puts tons of talent on the ice year after year & that a coaching change is what's in order.
I hope that's the case,
BC I think Babcock will stay in Detroit & if be more than happy to bring in McClellan
