But if that's what it takes, is my point. Heck, I'd throw a little more to get it.

If I was GMTM, I'd do anything I could to lock McDavid.

- awildmudkip

Which is my point that the gap doesn't warrant giving up those assets just to go from Eichel to McDavid.

There's really no point in sacrificing your future to get a better version of someone who is already going to be great.

It'd be like the Flyers trading Giroux Voracek and Simmonds for Crosby.

Because why give him top six minutes when you're giving McEichel top 6 minutes.
- awildmudkip

Mackinnon got 3rd line minutes at various times as a rookie.

People are sort of in dreamland if they think McEichel is a number 1 center day 1. That's not today's NHL

Yes they do play a checking role, hence Patrice Bergeron ' s Selke

You are getting hung up on the label.

- sbroads24

3rd line mintues like you want Reinhart to play? No they don't. Hes compared to them because of the two-way play. Not a checking line role.

Grigorenko has trade value now? Oh, cool. If we don't win the lottery, Sabres' 1st, Grigorenko and Reinhart for the #1 overall. I don't freaking care, McDavid is on a whole 'nother level than Eichel.

I can only pray that you're not being serious

In two years McEichel and Reinhart should be 1, 2 Unless a verteran center is brought in to help. I can't believe that is being disupted. They both will propbbly be sheltered to a degree next year but after that it is all speed ahead.

The Selke doesn't mean "I PLAY A CHECKING ROLE". Look at Datsyuk.

I didn't say 3rd line minutes. I said checking role.

Take all the important faceoffs, match up against top lines. It's what he did in the WJC.

In 2 years

McDavid - 19 minutes all purpose
Reinhart -17 minutes, defensive draws, matchups
Grigorenko - 15 minutes, offensive zone heavy, PP
Schaller - 8 minutes

Larsson- on Reinhart's wing
Girgensons on McEichel wing playing the Dustin Brown role

Where are you planning on slotting Grigorenko and Reinhart into your top 9 when you get McEichel? No, really. I want to know. You already have McEichel as you're #1. Ennis is your likely #2. Girgensons is a proven #3.

The only scenario is if you get Reinhart to push Ennis to LW, which leaves Moulson out of a top 6 spot becuase Kane will be a top 6 LW no question.

You're hung up on the label. Bergeron absolutely plays a checking role. He takes a lot of defensive draws and matches up with the a Crosby and Ovi's

Let me rephrase this in a way everyone will get a boner

Reinhart can be our "next Drury"

what does this mean exactly then. Where exactly do Reinhart and Grigorenko fit in the grand scheme of things. We could roll out 3 scoring lines like St. Louis does but I dont think that will fit us well with all the top end talent we will have we need a defined Top and Bottom 6

Reinhart can match up against other teams top lines and still drive possession. That would be a luxury. IF (big IF) Grigorenko pans out, you could give him heavy offensive zone starts and he could produce.

IMO it's worth seeing through

I don't know, but 306 career hits in 740 career games doesn't scream "checking role" to me.

Exactly my point on Grigorenko and Reinhart being expendable trade pieces if we don't win the lottery.

If Reinhart gives us 55-70 points a year, with Bergeron's defensive awareness, I'll be a happy guy.

That would mean putting Grigorenko on the "3rd line" if you want to call it that and peopel seem to hate that idea alot. And Girgensons is pushed elsewhere. You are still going to put Reinhart and McEichel with the best players available.

3rd liner is just a label.

Remember when Vanek was a 3rd liner? It's a luxury when you have a deep team. I'd rather see these guys through and find out what we have
