I mean sure if someone wants to overpay, but most likely no one is going to give us fair value right now.

If Murray trades him it's a big red flag IMO. Let the kid either bust or figure it out here. He has little value, there is no point in trading him

If they move a d-man to get someone like o'reilly i could see him moving grigorenko for a young d-man with similar value/upside.

So the Sabres fire Nolan to make it look like management wanted more wins...

He dosent fit into the future top 6 here IMO. He is not a winger and shouldn't be. He isn't Murrays player and he has made it clear he will trade anyone.

We had Phil Varone as our 1C at one point. I can't believe people can say he doesn't have a place, or a spot to compete for

His name was the first that came to mind but you could swap it with < insert two way top 6 forward here >

So he is going to take one of McEichel or Reinhart's spots? I highly doubt we see Reinhart as our 3rd line center in 2 years.

I don't think it's so much he doesn't have a place but that at this point he may have more value to the team as a trade asset. Personally, I'd give him the top 6 minutes this coming year then make that call but Murray may have already made up his mind.

Sure, but is Grigorenko the sticking point in any trade, or could you just insert a 2nd round pick?

Id rather trade for a proven winger if thats the case. He should be and always will be a center IMO

Reinhart could absolutely be a checking center. He's the smartest player in our system and has been compared to Bergeron and Kopitar.

Also, why not give Grigo the top 6 minutes this upcoming season and see if he can increase his value?

Grigorenko has trade value now? Oh, cool. If we don't win the lottery, Sabres' 1st, Grigorenko and Reinhart for the #1 overall. I don't freaking care, McDavid is on a whole 'nother level than Eichel.

You don't draft a guy 2nd overall to be checking center... Girgensons is our guy there and will be for a while. Do Bergeron or Kopitar play a 3rd line checkign role. No

At this point probably not. What im thinking is Murray's already made up his mind about him and that if/when they move let's say a d-man like McCabe or even zadorov for a forward (why i brought up o reilly since i figure they'd want a d-man more than grigs), he may choose to flip griogrenko for a d-man of similar value (kassian-hodgson kinda trade).

Because why give him top six minutes when you're giving McEichel top 6 minutes.

Perhaps its just because there's an 80% chance we don't win the lottery, but i don't think the gap between Eichel and McDavid is our 1st, grigorenko, and Reinhart.

But if that's what it takes, is my point. Heck, I'd throw a little more to get it.

If I was GMTM, I'd do anything I could to lock McDavid.

Yes they do play a checking role, hence Patrice Bergeron ' s Selke

You are getting hung up on the label.
