Yikes you must see a lot in GMTM. I will be plesnlty surprised if they make the playoffs. But GMTM definitely has a lot of work to do
- Smittyx36

They are in a great spot. You have the two young centers already (hardest part)

Some really good young D (3 of them Ristolainen, Zadorov, Pysyk)

Decent scoring wingers in Kane, Moulson, Ennis.

Probably a good third line center in Girgensons.

Finding average goaltending is not hard to do. Hell Tim Murray had to trade two guys away this year because guys were playing too well.

One example of a move the Sabres could make is offer sheeting both Tyler Toffoli and Martin Jones at the moment you are eligible to do so. Travis Yost had the money worked out to where you wouldnt be on the hook for a 1st round pick and the Kings wouldn't be able to match both contracts. Good chance you'd find your new goalie in Martin Jones going that route.

Then you go shopping for some help in the free agency market. But I'm going to save my ideas on that for my Penguins blogs.

Is that a concrete fact? I mean if you're willing to pay for expert to evaluate me and mike i'd be down. The guy played the game decades ago. His opinions of the past decade have been laughable at times. But yea.... He is smarter and knows more than EVERYONE on these boards. Because you know our backgrounds?

I repeat: But let me say this the winningest coach in NHL history never suited up for a single NHL game and he is considered to have one of if not the greatest hockey mind ever

Mikes word of the game is just his opinion. Just because you have been doing something for 30 some years doesn't mean you were doing it right. Mike is no different than any other ex player on the broadcast team.

I like listening to him. His ideas are dated though. Really hate his idea that murray should give up significant assets to get a top goalie.

There should be a Toews statue and there should be about 10-15 people at every home game with a Cam Atkinson jersey on.
- Ryan_Wilson

Toews, Weber, and Atkinson as a statue similar to the French Connection statue.

Again the game has passed him by around 15 years ago and the last 7-8 years have really changed significantly.

This guy right here is smarter than Mike. Case Closed.

Btw those would be very good smart moves for them. Give a text to GMTM for us

I don't mind him. He is a personality with NHL player background. He has a good radio voice that does get listeners to listen to the show. No matter who was on there, their thoughts would be accepted and ridiculed by the masses.

The Yost idea was pretty awesome. When you put it in those terms, Buffalo gets a decent player or maybe two depending on what the Kings want to do with the money... Cap wise, it will put them in a bind.

Plus you can keep Lindback, or try to pry Dubnyk or any other goalie for a 1a-1b tandem.

The real need then would be defensive depth if you get both Toffoli and Jones. Highly unlikely as the kings will do everything they can to keep Jones.

Do you have any thoughts on Hodgson and his future?

Last night was the difference between a future Cup for the Sabres and just OK playoff runs.

What a day to be a Sabres fan.

Or Toffoli goes the Subban, Johansen route and wants a bridge deal and not short himself money long term.

They will probably beat the Sabres but their season is cooked regardless. I just want them to get some playoff gate money so they continue to spend aggressively.

No Letang, Maatta, Dupuis, Ehrhoff, and a banged up Malkin is a bridge too far to come back from.

can they even afford a bridge deal? lots of teams will be struggling with the cap. Hopefully we can take advantage of that

One thing the Sabres have shown in the past weeks is they can hang with any team. A burden of the tank has been lifted and now they have the fan appreciation tonight to fire them up. Last game of the season at home would be a great time to let it all out.

They aren't letting Toffoli go, end of story. The theory is to make them choose, thus them letting Jones walk and the compensation ends up like a 3rd rounder, problem with the theory is assuming Tyler Toffoli is just automatically interested in signing with the Sabres

I didn't like the idea a lot because if the offer for Taffoli is unable to be matched then they lose a potential top 5 pick depending on how well they do next year and perhaps even 1st overall with how liberal the lottery rules are becoming.

I think we are all under the assumption that players will want to come here, but there is still a lot of work to be done to increase their interest.
