He raises an interesting point, even if he is just trying to stir the pot. Murray's overpaid in two trades so far. It's nice to see a GM with some balls, but if this team fails, that's on him.

But it won't because we'll have JACK (frank)IN EICHEL OR CONNOR (frank)IN MCDAVID female dogES!!!!

- CaptainRivet

What 2 trades has Murray overpaid for?

I mean the Kane trade you can say he has overpaid now but until Kane suits up and plays its a bit premature to say he has overpaid especially since Armia doesn't look like he is anywhere close to putting a NHL uniform on.

Most of the prospects were here from the drafting of Kevin Devine (Darcy admitted that the picks after round 1 were mostly Devine) plus Devine was instrumental about Zadorov.

However name me a top 6 forward that Darcy traded for in the last 7 seasons...

Like you said earlier 2 seasons starting now is when we will see if Murray is a good GM. He broke down Team Darcy now he is building his own team. Time will tell. I am just glad this season is almost over and there will be a franchise player to build around come draft day.

The blind love for someone that has done ultimately what a monkey could do simply baffles me is all.

Well Darcy couldn't (or wouldn't) trade for a top 6 forward

I think most people like Murray because he is a complete opposite of Darcy. He is someone fresh and isn't afraid to make moves.

Like I said the next 2 seasons will be a good judge of whether he is or isn't a good GM.

I am not trying to "stir any pot" I have far better things to do than that.

I just don't see what the guy has done here to achieve this holier than thou status.

And I don't see what he has done , for a very good reason.

He hasn't done anything here yet!

When he does then I will applaud him but I certainly will not applaud him for what he has done so far which is nothing!

Meh, it was partially a joke.

2 2nds and McNabb for Deslauriers and Fasching I considered to be an overpayment at the time. It will be if Fasching doesn't pan out.

I'm too happy to talk about prospects failing right now

I'm with you on that Stripes, you know that though I am sure.

Just because he is the complete opposite of Darcy doesn't mean that great things are in store for this franchise.

Ask Bobby Clarke how is gunslinger mentality has worked out for him = no Cups!

I think that is one trade that could really benefit the Sabres long term. Fasching looks like he is going to be a really solid 2nd line winger. He could pot 30 and imagine him standing in front of the net on the PP..

I also really like Deslauriers. He is the perfect 4th liner. He won't hurt you defensively and he isn't afraid to drop the gloves. He is the new age "enforcer" IMO

Morning all,

A GREAT day to be a Sabres fan. Feels like we won the Cup!

Mr. Hard Hat, I believe GMTM has done a lot. He is dismantling the team piece-by-piece of the Regier era. He is changing the team make-up and culture and this takes time. Of course, the proof will be in the pudding but I for one am happy to have GMTM in charge. The stale/risk free "culture of mediocrity" that has surrounded the Sabres has run its course. I am glad GMTM has a plan and is willing to take some risk. Big risk = big reward. Playing it safe = another 20-years of "going for 8th". Now having said all of this, I don't want to see him throw out all of our exciting prospects just to chase down ROR or trade up to McDavid (assuming we don't win the lottery). I would like to see Eichel join an already impressive group of youngins' and develop together. Grab a guy like Mike Green to help our pathetic powerplay and a decent goalie in UFA and we should be knocking on the playoff door within 2 - 3 years.

Anyway, there can no malice on a wonderful day like today. Peace, joy and happiness to all Sabre fans everywhere. For those of you lucky enough to be going down to HarborCenter or the game tonight - enjoy! Be loud, be proud, cheer the Sabres onto victory and drink copious amounts of booze!

Hes doing what i wanted all along. Hes building a team to compete in the playoffs. If you want players that other teams actually want, you may have to outbid them, which apparently is what happened in the kane deal. i suspect, as many have said, that right wing is addressed next. looks pretty good so far. still have plenty of cap room and there could be a few teams in trouble with that. Looks like the ufa market will only provide depth players this year, doesnt look like theres much out there.

Like a said before, every trade he made was to get mceichel, the players he got in return are a sweetner to me. If he just cut Mcnabb , Myers and armia to get last place it's worth it. You think we could of traded strome myers stafford and armia for mcheichel? Lol. We would get laughed at for that offer. Now we have mceichel WITH kane, fasching, bogosian and deslieurias (sp). No not any monkey could of did it, As it stands now there is a chance we might finish last in a tie breaker. We needed everyone of those trades

Ask Mike Robitaille what he thinks about it.

But I get it, you know more than him as well.

Yes because Mike Robitaille said it, it must be true. Mel kipper said Jamarcus Russell is the next john elway too. You know because commentators on sports are always right....

Mike Robitaille knows more about the ins and outs of the game of hockey than you will ever dream of knowing.

You'll have to forgive me if I believe Mike more than you.

Hat . Your looking at what TM is supposed to be with a what have you done for me lately type attitude. The world is a better place when you expect a positive from people and give them the chance to not make a negative. TM hasn't done anything negative in my eyes. The positives have been planted and he's tacking care of things to make this team a winner. No negatives so far.Building the team doesn't happen over night and the Sabres are still on the right track. As long as he keeps it going that way, I have nothing but positive thoughts towards him.

Wow! okay. Where do I begin? I really didn't expect to win.

Okay, first off I would like to thank the hockey gods. And of course, Mike Weber for being our tank commander and the worst dog-gone defensemen in the league. I would like to thank Tim Murray for putting this all together and managing to hold on the that smug-coy smile the whole way. I love you you beady-eyed little (frank). Of course I cannot forget about the puck that broke Zemgus's foot. Thank you puck couldn't have done it without you. Jonathan Toews, where are you, buddy? Thank you Mr. Toews. Enroth and Neuvirth, you guys were the best, put up with a lot of sh!t, thank you! To all the other fans in the league who said we couldn't do it and should be punished for even trying. (frank) YOU!!! especially you Toronto fans. And finally to all the hockeybuzz guys. We did it!!! And can finally root for our team again.

I wouldn't be opposed to keeping Grigs at all. Even playing with marginal talent guys like Gionta and Foligno has made a huge difference in his game. Imagine him on a line with McEichel and Evander Kane or Reinhart and Ennis.

Right?!!!
It felt so weird cheering against the Sabres all year.
It's finally over though, and we can start our climb back up the standings
