Sutter is the best FO guy on the team at 50.4%. Lapierre is at 48.8%. Goc was really good for us on FOs at 54% but we traded him for Lapierre. But Lapierre has grit.
- jfkst1

Maybe it was a spelling mistake. We actually got guys who have girt, not grit. Just an innocent oversight.

Id almost fire MJ right now...why the (frank) not. Get any old half brained knitwit from the presser to fill in. Send a damn message.

in all seriousness, what do you want him to say? should he lace them up and play?

im not saying he is immune from criticism but please be honest here.

why are the penguins running out of gas?
1. injuries- missing 3 of your top 4 dmen makes it hard to win, no matter who else is on the ice.

2. cap management- being able to dress only 5 dmen for multiple games is just awful and inexcusable.

3. personal decisions- playing adams and bennett for a combined 10 minutes instead of sitting one for another dmen is poor asset management.

4. lack of killer instinct- penguins dont have it. penguins dont have that youth and energy that a team like ottawa has or a team like the 08 and 09 penguins had.

I don';t care who we are missing. Pittsburgh is better with a healthy lineup. However to say they don't have the talent to be a play-off team is absurd. They have enough talent to be a play-off team. I would envy having four lines like they roll out. No, they don't have Malkin or Crosby, but they have balance, energy, and youth.
- Oneonta Penguin

i dont think ottawa should be totally swept under the rug as a garbage team. they have some pretty good youthful guys, that quite frankly have the legs and the heart right now that the pens dont. without a full deck, the talent level between the two teams isnt as vast as some would believe. they arent a team you can sleep on and just expect to waltz out there with 2 points. there are plenty of quality guys on that team, and while there arent really any stud forwards, the depth just comes at you in waves.

that being said, this was still a game that a team with cup aspirations needs to be able to lock down. i get the defenders are out. i do. but this is still a game that the team as a whole needs to find a way to lock down and finish off.

I thought you were done with me? You can't help yourself. 1st grade is thinking Matt Cooke is the second coming.

I don't care if I don't drive this board. However one thing is clear. You are one of the biggest idiots on this site that has zero clue about the game itself.

Don't talk to me about class dude. You root for Cooke and Downie.

Don't go tossing kiddy names around, no one else does that here. Respect what goes on; or don't particapate. It's not hard, this conversation has made RW about 3 cents too much; and that's because of name calling.

It's annoying

number one is a very legitimate and justifiable issue. however, it doesnt make up for number four, which is true regardless of who is or isnt healthy.

I truly believe that IF the Pens don't make the Playoffs (and I think most will agree that they don't deserve to be in the Playoffs at this junction), it will be the best thing for them in the long run. I am not sure how and what will exactly transpire, but I think it will be for the best. I think a lot of Pens fans need something new to get excited about.

Also, there is still a weird chance that the Penguins will finish 2nd in the Metro. The Isles have not exactly been lights out either.

I am, however, hoping that the Pens don't make it. It will be a much needed wake-up call to the whole organization, top to bottom

No excuse for injuries, it has hurt but......In what was possibly the most important game of the season, hte Pens blow a 3-0 lead and you have 1 player making 9.5 that did not contribute or was the difference maker. What exactly are you paying him for?

No, it would be a disaster. They would lose out on potentially three 1st rounders they could have had (their own traded for Perron, Martin being traded, and Ehrhoff being convinced to waive his NMC). In addition to trading for Winnik who evidently is now a top line player, and trading Despres for Lovejoy. None of these moves make any sense for a non-postseason team.

So we get Lappy for his playoff experience and he plays 6 mins while other players can't even skate. How does that make any sense?

Spaling just 12mins? I don't get it.

But maybe a much needed disaster?! Kind of "phoenix rising from the ashes" type of thing.

exactly, and i didnt rank them in order but i think #4 is the key.

there are no energy guys, there are no guys who lay it all out night in and night out other than hornqvist and crosby lately.

in 2008 and 2009, we had talbot, kennedy, cooke, ruutu, laraque, roberts, etc. none of them had much skill but any of them would go through a brick wall to help the team win.

i doubt bennett, adams, spaling, sutter, etc. would go through a saran wrap wall to help the team win.

it's a massive problem and no matter what the outcome of this season is, fixing this issue needs to be #1. dump the dead weight and put younger guys in the lineup and let their energy rub off on everyone else.

you cant keep playing 30+ guys and expect them to turn it up a notch in april and may when they are out of gas.

Sure, being tired is something you can blame on what's happening.

We play scared and weak.

The game turned hard when Winnik got blasted with a clean hard hit. We shrank in every aspect of the game.

Played scared and weak, and we have been for quite some time.

Don't remember me that please. Some guys will say it doesn't matter since he's a 4th liner. I don't see it this way.

There is no way that he is playing healthy right now. It's pretty obvious.

Despres was garbage too.
- taleisyreXIII

Ask Anaheim if he is garbage. Of all d-men with over 200 hits and over 100 shots blocked he is second in scoring behind Savard. He hasn't come close to hitting his ceiling yet and Lovejoy is hitting the floor.

Go ahead and tell me that the team is better with Lovejoy than Despres.

My problem with Johnston is that he rolls his eyes and huffs and puffs like a little girl throwing a mini tantrum. Grow some balls, yell at the ref, then yell at the players for playing like a bunch of pussies. His system works well, but he holds no players accountable.
