I never said Yeo was a great coach. I'm not sure where you're getting that claim. I merely said that the folks saying Yeo was the problem either weren't following the team or were saying so mockingly.

Having worse possession numbers after we started winning doesn't negate the claim I've made. Having a poor power-play doesn't negate the claim I've made (at what point do we blame the guy actually running the PP? Yes, Yeo has over-all say on this, but at the same time the majority of blame ought to be on Brunette). Yeo having had a poor power-play whilst part of the Penguins Cup win doesn't negate the claim I've made. I agree with you 100% that we should not be fighting for a wild-card spot, and that does not negate the claim I've made - it actually reinforces my claim.

Edit: It seems you're making similar points as I am, but you're somehow turning those to be Yeo's fault. If we had higher possession numbers whilst losing, but then had decent goaltending and suddenly are winning with worse numbers, wouldn't the issue directly point to goaltending?

I think blaming everything on yeo, compared to just being down on him are two very different things. And what you claimed, was that those people have no common sense.

You're right, and I still agree. There absolutely is a difference between blaming Yeo and being down on him. But there's also a difference in thinking Yeo needs to make a few changes and Yeo needs to be fired. If anyone here thinks firing Yeo was the solution, they lack common sense. I stand by that 100%.

As a fourth line, that should be an advantage. Pretty invisible tonight.

Wasn't it the Haula, Brodzie, Schroeder line that was lighting up for a week or two last month?

The return of Zucker! Feeling good about tonight.
- SotaPopinski

Pretty nice game from him tonight. Much more dangerous offensively with him in the lineup. I seriously thought he broke his other collarbone on that one play though.

Gump

You know anything about DD's puck tracking program. Seems to be given a lot of credit for his resurgence and I'd be interested in learning more about it and even trying it for my beer league goaltending.

I've heard him mention a head trajectory technique that he learned working briefly with Steve Valiquette.

Here is a recent NHL.com article about Dubnyk. Maybe you've already seen this though. I haven't heard anyone discuss the technique in detail either and that could be for good reason. Valiquette does have a goaltending school so maybe there are issues revealing full details of the technique.

He does have a website so maybe some of his blogs have some more info.

Question for those from 'the state of hockey':

For the past five years, every year I do a big hockey vacation, to see something new; this past year involved Nash, Tampa, and an overseas trip to Glasgow for some EIHL action, which was great.
I was thinking next year I want to go to Minni, having heard so much glowing praise of the community/fans/hockey in general- either juniors or college.
Is there an annual 'must not miss' round robin type weekend tournament-or anything of the like- (either college or junior) that one could recommend well ahead of time to mark my calendar with?

Thanks! Congrats on Clenching-

The Mariucci classic is always fun. Early January I believe. The North Star college cup would probably be more competitive hockey.

I'd say it depends on your length of stay, but next year is a bit of bonanza in March.

I think the can't miss tournament here that is one of a kind is the Boys' Minnesota State High School Hockey tournament. It's usually the first weekend in March (Wednesday - Saturday - this year was 03/04-03/07) and is played at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul. Here is the MSHSL website.

The Big Ten Conference tournament is being held in St. Paul at the X next year - March 17-19. You get the added bonus of spending St. Patrick's Day in downtown St. Paul. But the hockey will likely be mediocre and the crowds will probably be poor.

The NCHC has held its first two conference tournaments at Target Center in Minneapolis. I'm not positive if they are locked into that venue for 2016 but if they are it would be the same weekend as the Big Ten tournament. It will be much better hockey and a better atmosphere.

Next year the NCAA West Regional is being held in St. Paul at Xcel Enegry Center, March 25-27. So that should be four pretty good NCAA teams playing three games.

I wouldn't discount the one's MnGump mentions either.

Personally, I really like the venue at Mariucci - Olympic sheet and seats about 10,000 - great atmosphere. If you come in March for the high school tournament there's a chance you could possibly catch a Gopher game there if they're not on the road. But I know some of the consolation games for the high school tourney are played there so the Gophers may schedule a road weekend to be out of the way.

It's a good bet they will ramp up the dog and pony show for the Stadium Series game here too between the Wild and Blackhawks, which is February 21. So there will probably be a lot going on around that game.

And if you stay for any length of time and are here when they are playing, Shattuck St. Mary's is in Faribault which is only about 45 minutes from the Twin Cities. I believe Shattuck regularly plays teams from the USHL.

Honestly, you could come here the week of that Stadium Series game and stay through March and could probably find good and different levels of hockey every weekend.

I don't know if Lucia is pitching that or not. I do remember hearing either Louie or the Beyond the Pond guys talking about possibly going to a hybrid of about 92 feet. I think maybe it was Louie that I heard say he never wanted the full Olympic sheet in the first place. I think many of the rinks in the Finnish Elite League have done the hybrid thing.

Kuemper in net tonight! Makes sense, but I would still prefer to go out guns blazing instead of playing it safe.

Would have rather seen him start against St.Louis so the Wild could avoid the Blues end of season goalie injury curse.

...and so much for going for the new NHL record of 13 straight road victories.

I think it's good to get him in now. If they need him for any reason in the playoffs, better that he's had a game instead of that being his first time in since January.

Parise, Nino and Vanek out tonight...

Russo reporting tonights lines:

Zucker Koivu Stewart

Bergenheim Granlund Pominville

Cooke Coyle Schroeder

Carter Brodziak Fontaine

... and apparently Yeo is saying Saturdays line up will be representative of the post season starting line up which mind bogglingly includes Prosser!?

I don't get that! What exactly did Folin do to get stuck in Yeos dog house?

I think Yeo really likes that Prosser gets involved in the physical play and gets in guys' faces. He also plays the PK quite a bit. But I think this could change depending on the opponent. They just may not know who their opponent is until Saturday is over.
