I'd be ok with this if there wasn't a glut at C: Giroux, Couturier, Laughton, and Brayden Schenn can't all be 1-2-3 Centers. Schenn would be the first of those 3 I'd put on the trading block.

Thank you. His reluctance to use youth are why Patrick Sharp was traded to Chicago as a favor by Bob Clarke.

This is what happened

I think it's fair to say that Hitch has mellowed a little bit with that, because he is smart enough to know that you have to have young contributors under the cap, but he was once as hard as they came on young players

I don't think this organization sees BSchenn as a center. And neither do I, quite frankly.

Maybe there's chemistry with Couturier? I'm not a BSchenn fan at all, but I think they are compelled to see this through and see what he becomes.

So, the remaining skeds. Three teams will enter, one will leave:

Boston: At Washington, at Florida, at Tampa Bay
Detroit: Carolina, at Montreal, at Carolina
Ottawa: Pittsburgh, at New York Rangers, at Philadelphia
Pittsburgh: At Ottawa, New York Islanders, at Buffalo

So, even with Detroit struggling to score, you gotta want to play Carolina twice. So I think they are in

With Boston, Washington has clinched but can't catch the Rags, and Florida is now eliminated...gotta think they're getting points out of them

Obviously, Pittsburgh-Ottawa is huge tomorrow...that's going to be a hell of a game. Ottawa's problem is that if they don't get a regulation win tomorrow, Pittsburgh's got Game 82 with Buffalo, and that's almost assuredly two points

I'm definitely watching Pittsburgh-Ottawa tomorrow. That almost has to be the most highly contested game of the season

He's been playing great at right wing.

Awesome. We need right wingers

Are you buying into "Elimination Production"?

I give him credit for producing and helping the Flyers win, but this smells no different than a September Superstar in MLB

I'd rather see if they can use him to get a true winger instead. He plays his best hockey at center, but G, Couts, & Laughton are better there. Nothing personal; it's just business.

I'd be cool with that.

It'd also be interesting to see what he does with a new head coach.

Hmmm

So Hitch would demand the trade of one of the best defensive centers in the league because he is young. Got it.

Wrong. Hitch didn't use Sharp/refused to play him. Clarke traded him to Chicago to get him playing time since he wasn't getting a shot here. I don't know where you've been the last 9.5 years, but that's how it went down.

Yea. But I also buy more into "penguin production"

You can't take anything away from the way they play Pittsburgh because they can never ever be able to replicate the effort/luck to any other games. Penguins games are complete outliers

Maybe I'm crazy to believe this but between Giroux to Couturier to Laughton, I'm seeing a huge drop off. I'm not seeing this dislike for Brayden Schenn. I'm seeing a player being miss used. It wasn't until Schenn was placed with Couturier and Read until I felt he was placed exactly where he needs to be and it got him the second star of the week last week. With Giroux and Voracek he's a pedestrian. With Couturier and Read he's playing with guys on his level.
