Yeah definitely not, not that much of a homer
I think Geno + Perron + = Max + Galch + Gallag would be the best deal. An even better on would be to add Sutter and we take back either a 2nd/good prospect/depth player. Those would be the blockbuster deals. - znagle
I didn't mean straight up, I meant as part of the Malkin deal. |

See what I mean about wildly fluctuating opinions on Sutter? Sutter's pts/60 is 1.17. Firmly in the 4th line category. I'd be happy to trade him to a team that values him as a 2C. I think it would be a disastrous mistake, but the return should be appropriately higher as well. - jfkst1
He has 19 g this year with bad wings to play with mostly. I am willing to bet there is a GM out there that would think with his FO% and some better F's on a 2nd line role he might be a decent pick up. |

I know that, my first part was directed towards all the list being included in the deal. Second part was just a reiteration of the proposed deals |

Hows the cap space work in the playoffs? I know it changes but not sure in what way. - kgrpitt
No cap until free agency then they can be 10% over salary, I believe. |

If, after this season, the Blues and Habs don't at least make the Cup finals, I think both will be looking to "get over the hump" and be in a position to shake things up a bit.
I think they both would be good trade partners allowing the Pens and either of those teams to restructure a bit.
Assuming Malkin is part of the talks, you would discuss some combo of Max P, Gallagher, Galchenyuk, DSP, Weise from the Habs coming Pens way. From Stl you'd be talking Steen, Backes, Oshie, Rattie, Schwartz.
I'd do a Malkin + Sutter to the Habs for Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Weise, and DSP + a pick or 2. Not only would we be deeper and bigger, we'd pick up some younger players and perhaps have a few extra $ to spend on UFA's to restructure a bit. |

I don't think they will get rid of Rutherford unless the team misses the postseason and some big name like Babcock agrees to come in provided they can name their own GM. Johnston I could see being gone if he doesn't make the postseason.

I honestly don't think both will leave. Slim chance MJ gets tossed and we gets Babs. |

Yeah my list was just examples of one thing that needs to happen. I think a mid pick (or 2 mid picks) for their first would be the easiest. Sutter or the prospect for a pick depending on level of prospect being second then Scuds last. Honestly, I would be happy with the Max and Galch. I think any of the other would be fair as well. Maybe even swap Perron for Gallagher.
Malkin + Perron = Max + Galch + Gallagher
No clue if that would work for future cap space. We'd probably have to add a second or third, but I would do it. Maybe even add Sutter for another depth player or pick to help balance out the cap and to not leave them dry all around. - znagle
i think trading Malkin is dumb. and for the record if I ever traded one or the other, it'd probably be Crosby.
but I'll play along. the only short term benefit is spreading out scoring and potentially saving on the cap tio ice a more complete team. But even in this deal Galch and Gallagher will need big raises eventually. Also
I'm trying to think of a different deal cause we've discussed this one before..
What about a trade based around
Malkin for Forsberg and Josi? ( i guess we'd prob need a center)
Malkin and Sutter for Backes, Berglund, and Tarasenko?
Malkin for Johansen and Jenner?

I don't know if he wants the GM title, but I do think the reason he hasn't/won't resign in Detroit is that he will never have any considerable personnel management control there. |

Perron will be making 5 at least on his next deal and Geno makes 9.5. Sutter makes over 3 so thats about 18m right there, more than enough to cover all three until they need new deals. No clue what their deals are now or the term without capgeek. If they still have a year or two that allows us to sign more depth this offseason as well. That would give us a full line, youth, and another draft pick or prospect. Sid won't ever be trade either.
