So you're assuming they 'weren't' trying before, but now they are?

You didn't expect to go 0-30 in the last few months did u?

- Ihateallofu

Seriously if they were trying early in the season, then they should have all been put down, I watched the Sabres games early in the year, wow it was terrifying, so yes I assume they were NOT trying. Because if that was NHL calibre talent trying then something was completely farked up.

No I didn't expect them go 0-30, but I expect them to finish last.

Isn't the title of this thread wrong ? shouldn't it be "plight at the end of the tunnel" ?

So who else is predicting a Sabres win tonight can imagine a few guys busting it HARD tonight, Islanders might make a few trades for hard working Sabres players.

- MikeyOz

I think they get hammered tonight. 2nd game of a back-to-back, no Moulson again, Makarov in net. Not to mention they have only won 9 games on the road all season. 5-2 Isles.

It's wise and kind-hearted statements like this that restore my faith in mankind. That and Toews

I agree I think we are pretty safe tonight but then again, this is the Sabres, it took two Toews goals to see off the Sabres last night.

I wish they made it all year long. But maybe its better they don't. I also love the 12 Horse Ale they make.

If you need a good bock fix all year long and really crave it when Genny stops making it, I recommend Shiner Bock. Its fantastic. But a little pricey.

winning the trade doesn't change the fact that murray made the move to improve the team long term. WHILE losing short term. but the short term benefits were just gravy. not the real reason for the trade.

whether he gave up too much and/or it proves to be a win long term or not doesn't really matter in this context.

- Ihateallofu

Actually it does, the discussion is whether or not he is a good GM. If the trade turns out to be a dud then he may not be the saviour that some seem to think he is at this time.

It's possible that they were just that bad. The roster on paper lends itself to a similar narrative as well IMO.

And just over 20 wins in an 80 game season is certainly achievable from even the all time worst teams. The league just has too much parity and evened out talent in a salary cap world to expect no wins at all even if they were just 'that bad'

Home game with the Hawks playing their 2nd of back-to-back.

Leonine kugel makes a good bock too and it's a bit cheaper than Shiner. Sierra Nevada makes a bock all year long that's pricey too

It's Makarov in goal tonight for #Sabres. Nolan said it's possible Weber's season is over.

Sounds like Weber may be done for the season. One less voice rallying the locker room.

Greedy or not, I want a 3 or 4 point lead after tonight

My bad.
I was under the impression the discussion was just involving whether he's trying to actually get better long term. And I believe that move is evidence that he is.

As far as good gm, tough to say at this point. He's done what he could to thin out the roster, get a high pick and get as much value as possible from pieces that weren't part of the future.

What he does beyond this year is the real test of his abilities. But all things considered, pretty solid thus far

They were barely getting any shots on goal, now they are suddenly outshooting opponents, and almost put the Hawks away, till the last 2 minutes.

We drafted the wrong Foligno. I always liked Nick, even when he was on the Senators. And I hate the Senators more than Toronto.
- DynamicThreads

Nick was a 1st rd pick, Marcus 4th. I think nick always had the higher ceiling. Besides we got awesome Dennis Pearson 4 picks before nick.

I'll have to check the Kugel out, is it the one with the goat figurine included on the bottles when you buy a 4 pack?

I refuse to try Yuengling's bock. That brewery sucks.

They went 10-3 in one stretch, no?
That almost half your wins in a 13 game stretch. Early in the season.

The other 12 came in 65 games

The oilers smoked the Hawks recently. It happens. It's not an indication of something deeper. Just a league where no win is guaranteed
