I think they are doing that to some extent. I actually saw Grigs on the PP last night.
- Pierceme69

Yeah...
But only BC Girgensons & Moulson are hurt, and Stafford got traded, etc
This all should've been happening weeks ago

Larsson has gotten his shot & look how he's done. He looked horrible his first games up here when playing on lower lines with mediocre talent
If we were in a playoff race,
Fine. Play Gionta 24 minutes a game...
But to do that now?
I just don't see how that makes any sense?

Grigs is not a top-6 winger. I think he could be. But like I said, they don't have the luxury of waiting another year because they blew through that first year of his ELC for no reason. Maybe the games he has played recently and will play before the end of the season is enough to convince them. I hope so. I like the kid.
- Pierceme69

Why can't they wait through next year? Just throw him on the wing with actual higher end players, realize oh poop this guys good, keep him. Problem solved.

He is an RFA. They have to tender him or he becomes a UFA. So they may decide since they don't know about where he fits in the future plans and what he is worth to just trade him away.

It still doesn't make sense that Murray would trade someone with that much skill & potential at a point where his value is very low

I would. I'm just saying, I don't expect Murray to hesitate to include him in a trade for a top-6 winger.

You're assuming his value is low. He had a very good year in Rochester.

So what teams out there are in dire need of a late-first rd pick, and have a top-6 winger they don't mind parting ways with? Has to be a team up against the cap, and presumably a team that either hasn't made the playoffs or is underachieving in the playoffs, since rebuilding teams and successful teams don't usually trade their better forwards. San Jose comes to mind.

Maybe, maybe not. Lots of people still think he's a bust. I like what I've seen in the last few games.

I think ROR is the name most people suspect when Grigs name comes up in trade 'rumors' because of his tie-in with Patrick Roy. I don't know though. Especially if we bomb out on McEichel I think Murray has a plan to acquire a top-6 offensive player.

I do like the vibes I get from TM. We'll be 1 draft and 1 Mike Babcock closer at the start of next year.

I can't see the Sabres getting Babcock. Would be nice but I just can't see it.

If Murray thinks he's a bust then his value can really only get worse as time goes on.

I hope TM qualifies Grigy, would be a waste not to do so and see what the kid brings next year up in the N full time playing with better talent.
Personally, I don't see him being here long-term but I do agree they need to build up his trade value.

I love seeing Larsons grow and think he could be a great bottom 6 pivot....maybe him Deslaurier and Foligno together would be a beast of a line to play against as the 3rd or 4th...if they can get to rolling 4 lines.

Still in shock from last night. I wasn't watching, but had the real time on my phone going. One minute it's 3-2, then I refresh and its 3-4. I thought there was a glitch.
